Morning Guys, We install the Euro Mini Grade 2 for our domestic customers did one the other day and have received an email from the customer asking me to answer all these questions that his insurance company is asking for: 1. Is the Alarm NSI/SSAIB Approved 2. Is there/will there be an annual maintenance contract in place 3. What type of alarm is it? – Bells only, linked to the police station/call centre Q1 We are not an NSI/SSAIB registered company still looking to see if it will benefit us. Q2 Yes if he wants it we can do it. Q3 It is a Euro Mini Grade 2 Bells Only. History: Originally an engineer went out to service it as the house was empty & gas/electri…

  2. Hi Everyone, Please can you help I have 2-3 Viper GLX's on one Zone connected to Scan 9751 Panel, Due to constraints with using existing wiring and plaster they are wired with 4 core. Please see the diagram i have attached to explain the best i can, i have wired the alarm in series and -ve terminal is connected to the OP3 at the panel as Shock reset going by the manual. I have been told this its possible to wire in this way. Problem i am getting is that when i arm the system it states the Zone is open (only with the shocks) it arms successfully however and if I bang them twice they do correctly set the alarm off Any ideas on improvements or any links i have missed out?…

Hi All, I have a Nexus 8 panel that has wired PIR & Door sensors. The question is I wish to add a outbuilding to the system, rather than the very tricky job of getting a cable from the pannel to the out building is it possible to buy any form or wireless PIR and receiver that I can connect to a free zone on this system ? I have seen various for sale on a number of sites but can anyone recomend anything. Thanks

  4. Currently I have a Scantronic 9751 Alarm system with 9930 LCD remote keypad. The software on the system is v02.01. My problems started with the system showing Battery flt i.e. Missing battery and Unit battery Low power message. This was due to the battery being 10 years old . Anyway, I went into the installer mode and opened the control panel and replaced the battery unit - No issues in doing that. But when I tried to exit the installer mode by pressing 99, the system shows zone faults from 01-07. I have read the event log (using command 90), all it had was the Batt Flt Rstr (Battery restore) message. I did the walk test (command 97) and all the zones were tested no issu…

Hi Everyone, I'm not really a novice or DIY'er, i'm an engineer who used to work for Protec on Fire & Security. Over the last 10 years or so i have specialised just on the Fire side and so i'm a bit out of it on the security side. So, my question, i have just moved into a new house and its pre wired for an alarm. I previously installed a Menvier TS790 in my old home and it served me well for a lot of years. I wanted to use another Menvier in the new house and was going to get a M800 until i saw a few bad reports on them. What would you guys recommend for a new panel with the same kind of spec as a TS790? My needs:- LCD text keypads, 2 possibly 3. Minimum 6 zone…

Hi all, I am currently trying to swap my keypads over, but the displays won't work. If I put them back where they were then the displays work.... I have a 370 led krp at the front door which I'm trying to swap with a 560 led contour at the back door. Any help would be much appreciated Thanks Chris

We have a Nexus 8 Alarm Panel installed...however my mum (who is 76) comes and checks on the house when we are on holiday...and she has been staying with us recently. She has problems hearing etc...so the alarm would often time out and thus activate all outputs. In a bit to prevent this i am hoping to install an extension speaker and a 12v low profile Xenon strobe to help her along (currently there is just an internal bell in the panel which isn’t very loud). The speak will be pretty easy to install i assume...but how do you wire in the strobe? Any tips? guys!

  8. Hello all, Just replaced my brother in law's defunct system with an ADE Reson8 bell box (8EP420), linked to a new Honeywell Optima Compact Panel (8EP396A), keeping the old wiring and PIRs. All is working OK except the strobe doesn't activate on alarm, nor when doing the unit tests via the control panel. Bell etc works fine, red/green LEDs alternating away, battery connected and jumpers enabled for battery and set to 20 minutes too. Wiring matches the TADB on the panel (T=SCB, A=SCB, D=Bell+, B=Bell-) to the TDAB (yes, I know the letters are different!) (T=RTN-, D=HOLD OFF+, A=HOLD OFF-, B=TRIG-) on the SAB module. What is missing (was never there) is any fifth wire …

Hi my Visonic wireless system had stared beeping in the early hours of the morning telling me that its battery is low and display code S01. I am a little dissapointed that its done this before its 3rd birthday do they normally do this so early?, so wondering if i can replace it with a Pyronix Deltabell or another wired bell. I have phoned up companys for replacement batteries etc but they want to charge me about £125 and i think this is too steep. My neighbour who is a spark can fit the bell. Thanks for any advise Rich

  10. Hi Guys, Yes its me back again. I had a problem sorting out the wiring for my bell & strobe when replacing my old paragon plus with a veritas 8.( Previous post.) To save you reading through the whole topic ( but you are welcome to if you wish) I have copied & pasted the relevant details here. THE QUESTION IS THIS..................................... Wiring the SAB On the paragon plus I have 6 wires coming from the sab green to stb - yellow to stb + (assuming strobe pos & Neg) Blue to bt ( Assuming tamper return) Red to b + Black to b - ( Assuming sounder pos & Neg) White to BB ........ no idea . SAB connections on Veritas 8 have only 5 ports…

  11. Hello, I've recently installed an Accenta G4 without problems - When I powered down removing both mains and battery the external siren went off. I expected this. My question is what does one do if a PIR requires replacement, that is, replace it with a live control panel or power down and annoy the neighbors for 20 minutes? Or am I missing a trick? Thanks David

Hi I recently upgraded my PIR's to iWise Quadsec anti mask, there are 7 installed in total. I would like to provide the detectors with a +12v on the set terminal when my gardtec 595 is armed (to disable AM when set), I think I can use PGM1 for this but don't know which setting to use on PGM1 and whether or not I can supply all the detectors from this terminal or if I need to fit a relay? Many thanks in advance for any help offered, Matt

Hi Guys, I have used this forum many years ago and you were really helpful, so I am hoping I have the same response. My trusty old Paragon Plus keypad died. All the rest of the system works ok but buttons dont contact too well. I tried removing keypad from pcb and cleaning contacts with limited sucess. So I have bit the bullet and bought a new panel. First and foremost for all the health & saftey guys, I have isolated the whole system and there is no power to the fused spur. I have installed the new panel and wired up all the zones in a logical (to me ) order. It is a fairly small set up 5 pir's, 2 magnectic door contacts (front & rear) 1 PA button in bedro…

  14. Hi, I have a Scantronic 9600 alarm system which is showing an exit fault - group A when setting the alarm. The fault is showing as the front door and the walk test when started shows "front door" rather than starting blank. However the magnetic contact on the front door is working OK as this shows correctly on walk test if opened and shut. Also the alarm can be set OK on Group B which includes the front door and the alarm subsequently activates if the front door is opened. The engineer temporarily removed (software setting rather than removing the wires) the door circuit from Group A but the alarm still shows Exit Fault Group A even with it out of circuit. Has anyone …

HI I have installed a Texecom 24 Premier panel with an Odyssey Bell Box which has sat and done it's job with no problems for the last three years, today the bell went off with no strobe despite there being no alarm condition showing on the RKP or internal sounders. The bell unit is showing the alternating LEDs and I can trigger the strobe on test but not the bell, the bell seemed to eventually stop but could not be turned off from the RKP. I can force an alarm condition but this does not seem to now sound the external bell. Any suggestions as to the potential issue would be much appreciated?
