Bit of a strange question, however are there any manufacturers of Bell Boxes that provide a unique sound output above and beyond the standard siren. I ask this as by design the siren sound is very disorientating and it can be hard to actually hone in on which alarm has activated in a residential road (apart from looking which strobe is flashing) I don;t want to go down the route of annouciators and look a complete pleb, or down the road of multiple sequential alarm types ala Clifford Concept car alarms - maybe just something a little different. Thoughts welcome... Vangellis...

Hi After 16 years of good service my Abacus panel has given up. I've spent hours looking at all the options and their are lots. So having an iphone and liking technology I starting thinking about remote access via the web. Eventually i've got it down to 2 options. Spend a lot on a wireless system i've been looking at the Visonic systems but the costs soon mount up if you want PIR, glass break etc. 2nd option is a good quality panel looking at a premier 24 with maybe a com card in it with reduced access and costs. If this was your system or were asked to provide the best option what would you recommend? I'm doing a self install but happy to wire program, have a ro…

Panel: Scantronic iON40 I need to utilise an additional voltage free output to control an electronic water control valve from the panel. The water panel utilises a voltage free contact which can be either NO or NC. The problem is that the iON 40 only has two voltage free outputs which already used for the siren and strobe. Ouputs 3 and 4 are transistorised outputs giving 12v when inactive and 0v when active although this can be changed on the panel. My first idea is to utilise a 12v dc relay which is fed by output 3 with the contacts from the water panel connected to the relay output. Any other suggestions?

Panel: Scantronic iON 40 Contacts: CQR FC508 Hi all, I have the above alarm system installed in a new build. I'm having real problems with one door which has two contacts installed as an FSL system. The door has two contacts as it is a barn style door split in the middle and I therefore wanted to protect both parts of the door. The system worked fine for several months but then I was unable to arm as the door was reporting being open. I checked the gap on the contacts and even moved them closer. After playing about with some spare magnets I managed to get the system working again. I'm assuming the contacts were stuck in the open position. However the problem happened a…

Hi all, I have a Mevier TS700 and its been running fine up until I started messing around with it, need some advice. The bell box no longer works, The alarm still fully works but no bell box or sd1 working. Last week I purchased a Mevier SD+1 telephone dialler as I want my mobile to ring soon as the alarm goes off, not just the bell box. So i connected the trigger input (selv) to my alarm ts 700 panel where the bell box is connected (trig) then 0v & +12v to the Aux 0v and 12v on my ts700. The SD1+ powers up and i can do a test call to my mobile and works great. Now i test the alarm by setting if off and it goes off but now siren nor sd1 dialing. Is anyone able…

Hi, Im not a fitter but have a good knowledge of electronics and diy, just a bit puzzled, can anyone advise... I inherited an accord xpc alarm with my flat, I disabled it and removed it for a full plaster and skimming of walls and ceiling. Now I have the chance to refit I have found the original bell box has been damaged from being stored in our garage. Reading online the pyronix deltabell seemed a suitable replacement. When I removed out the main panel, door sensors and pirs, I just cut the cables still attached and then when it came time to refit I just ran new core and reattached using the same colour combos. Wiring at the panel for the sounder was as follows... …

Hello, I have an ADT Wireless system installed at home few months ago. Recently we decided to put some covings in one of the rooms which has a motion sensor in the corner (model IR800M). As we want to finish our decorations before the New Year, I called up ADT to ask if they could move/advise on moving this sensor 4 inches lower its current position. However they are fully booked until the New Year not to mention the call out and first 1/2 of work is almost £80+VAT. So I decided to move it myself (how hard could it be?), opened the front cover where the circuit board label said "hold the tamper switch when refitting the batteries". Didn't see/find/know how it looks so …
