I have an elderly Scantronic 9300 panel that came with the house. It was working OK but came with no manuals. The system was turned off recently and the battery allowed to discharge fully while i was doing some other electrical work. I repowered the system, it came back on however it had lost the preprogrammed user code and defaulted to 1234. The panel is working in that i can change the user code, perform a bell test and perform a walk test. It is set up with an entry zone and a single alarm zone. All detection is by reed switch buried in the door frames somewhere. As i say these all function correctly on the walk test. The panel shows the following leds: power, day …

I have recently commissioned a Premier 48. All seems to work in initial testing but there is approx 200 network errors being reported from the Prox flush keypad (old style) after 5 days. The keypad has one contact connnected to each of its zones. Alarm is all using standard 6 core unshielded alarm cable. I wondered what is an acceptable level of network errors, if any, and any steps for fault finding. Are there some obvious likely causes? There is one 90 degree cross over mains socket cable and small part of alarm cable run is near a phone cable (I could try disconnecting phone cable?) I have 2 spare cores to play with (or more if I sacrifice a kaypad zone) Than…

Hi folks, Does the Texecom Premier 48 work with the Texecom Speech & Text Dialler? I think I read somewhere it may only work with the Premier COM-2400 communicator for SMS messaging only, or is that not the case...??? Also I was thinking of either the USB-COM or the COM-IP for programming the panel using the Wintex software. As I travel away from home with work a lot, would the COM-IP allow me to for instance, reset the alarm after an alert, or set/unset the alarm over the internet? Any other features the COM-IP offers over and above the USB-COM? As background... I do have a Electronics/Computing degree so I'm relatively familiar with network protocol and Java (a…

Hi, I'm currently undertaking a major house renovation and need to plan for the install of my alarm cables. The alarm base will be in a "technical room" in the cellar, along with the 240V AC consumer unit. All electrical cables from the upper 2 floors of the house will run back through a shaft to this technical room, so both alarm cables and mains cables will be in the same shaft, although obviously in separate conduits. At this stage I am not sure what physical separation, if any, is feasible between the mains cables and the alarm cables, hence my concern over induced EMI in the alarm cables. It will be the electrician installing the wires/conduits. I will install …

The more I tinker, the more I scratch my head and the more my head hurts... You may have seen that I'm trying to get a Glassbreak detector, RF Module, Internal Sounder and second Bellbox hooked up - but I'm not having much luck! All the cables are laid, I just need an expert to come and spend half an hour to sort it all out and put the right wires in the right holes. I'll provide beer and £! Why don't I use a proper installer? I still want full control of my alarm!

Ok, starting simple, the door contact and I'm struggling to grasp EOL (I think!) This is what I currently have; The panel is telling my I have tamper on the contact. The resistors are 1k. Then there's the Glass Break sensor; V+ & V- are fine, they're my green & white NC & C I presume are A & B / 1 & 2 (zone) so my red & blue the rest, I don't know what goes where, any clues? Where would the resistors lie?

I have recently moved in a house in which I’ve inherited an alarm system based around a very old (early 90s) Veritas R8 panel. Sensor-wise there’s mainly contact (door) and shock sensors (windows) and a couple of PIRs. However, I need to make some changes/additions, and without the master/engineer codes I realise I’m going to be unable to alter or re-program the system. Should I be looking at changing the panel (possibly to hybrid), and try to utilise the existing wired sensors, or just start again, probably with a wireless system as the house has been altered since the alarm was fitted, making new cable runs difficult?

Hi, I have a Scantronic 9651 hardwired control unit and a 9943 keypad. I have the following zones Zone 1: Fire (FR) Zone 2: Normal Alarm (NA) Zone 3: Normal Alarm (NA) Zone 4: Normal Alarm (NA) Zone 5-8: Not Used (NU) I am usings CC + Com A/T as a zone configuration. When I go into installer mode, and then press 99 and tick, the display shows as expected: 99:Checking bus 99 Exit Eng? I then press the tick, and it shows: 99:Checking Sys Shortly after this it flicks through the following messages: Tamper Zone 01 Tamper Zone 02 Tamper Zone 03 Tamper Zone 04 I checked the resistance between the 2 COM A/T connectors, and it was about 1kOhm. I …
