A few years back I installed two systems in two different houses, one has 2 external sounders the other has one... I can't remember exactly but I think they are Elmdene. These boxes are looking old and tatty now and although they still work and their comfort LEDs flash nicely I think more deterent effect would be gained by refreshing them. Originally I marked the boxes with a Logo, contact number etc. to make them look bona-fide. I did this by hand using a stencil and the effect was OK but not good and with time looks a bit unconvincing. Silkscreen printing is probably prohibitive due to the low volume i.e. 3. Any idea how to get a convincing effect that la…

I am trying to install a risk Iwise RK815DTG3 sensor onto a honeywell galaxy flex panel. The anitmasking mentions 12K resistor, which is selectable on the risco sensor, but this seems to be a combined fault and antimask. The wiring diagram in the flex manual shows the as separate switches - one for the fault (3K resistor) and one for the anti-mask (12K). Any ideas of how I wire this.

I have an Avanti XP with the LCD panel. It's been working fine for years My problem is that the LCD control panel seems to have crashed, it shows a message but none of the keys do anything. What I need to do is reboot it, just like a Ctrl-Alt-Del on a PC. Is there a key sequence that does this or is my only option to turn off the power to the main control box, open it and remove the backup battery for a few seconds? Obviously the alarm will be set off by this process

Hello all, I have a texecom veritas excel connected to a texecom speech dialler. I have a pir in each main area of the house. The garage has its own PIR on its own zone. I would like the garage zone to have its own trigger to the phone dialler. So I would be able to distinguish a garage break in from a whole house break in. The only way I can see of doing this is by making the garage zone a Fire zone but of course this won't work as this will mean its armed all the time and if I go in to the garage I would always set it off. Is there another way of having the garage zone trigger a different message? Thanks all Vincent

Need a bit of help, I purchased a hd-sdi camera to see what is quality was like, I did get a hd-sdi to hdmi converter but it didn't work so I purchased a dvr to check the camera but it only displays a load of coloured lines across the channel 1 box, I have spoke to the shop who I bought the dvr from and he said I have to adjust the camera settings on the little joystick attached to the camera but how can I do this if I cant see what it says on the screen. I don't know if the dvr is **** or the camera is playing up, any help would be much appreciated? thanks Dan

Hi all, We are looking to move into a new property soon and I am researching the options with regards alarming the property. I think I have narrowed it down to either a Galaxy Dimension or G2 OR Texecom Premier. I will be DIY'ing it - I am a network engineer by trade and have previously been a telecoms engineer and electrical engineer. I need it to protect numerous house zones (which isn't an issue) but also a detached workshop and an additional outbuilding. Getting cabling to the outbuildings isn't a problem (underground ducting is in place). In a normal disarm situation the outbuildings will need to remain armed and protected but with an option of disa…

Hi, can someone help? I have an Accord XPC panel. The internal alarm went off on Sunday while I was out. My neighbour told me when I got home and I noticed that it was zone 5, the CO detector. I thought it was a one off but then it went off again Sunday night when we were all asleep. Then again about 5 times yesterday evening so I ended up sleeping on the sofa in case it went off again during the night - which it didn't . I came home tonight and it was going off again! I have the manual and know the engineer code but can't work out how to turn the system off completely until I can get someone round to look at it. At first I thought I could turn off zone 5 bu…

Has anyone installed a Smoke Cloak 4000 series horizontally (say in a ceiling void)? They are bug-ugly bits of kit and want to hide it as much as possible. Will obviously provide a cutout in the ceiling to let the 'fog' out..... Can the fluid still be seated upright in the device (when horizontal - to stop spillage), or should I opt for one of the 45 degree filler cap ones? Vangellis
