OP, buy from a decent place (like Security Warehouse) and you'll be fine.

 

Get it from somewhere like ebay and every single penny will have been saved removing the amount of copper, hence your previous problem ;)

 

Pre-made kits like those you used are the worst quality out there IMHO.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands
