First time poster, hi. I was all set to go for a Screwfix Yale wireless install. I chatted to a pal in my street who has suffered spurious alarms with another system from south facing zones. The thing is that our houses face due south in the south of England and they can get very hot and that is where I feel the problem lies. Most of the break ins are where doors and windows are removed and the switches are ineffective. The only way I see that I can I can set up an effective alarm on my limited budget is with Dual Tech sensors in the two rear rooms. One has the boiler and air vents too. I only intend fitting 2 other PIR's and 2 door contacts at the front. Because …

Hi I am commissioning a Texecom Elite 24 system. This is my very first installation. It has 22 zones using FSL wiring. It has 2 external keyboards. Also an 8XP External expander and an 8XE internal expander is included. I am using Wintex software to analyse and configure the system. Wintex shows that all the zones are healthy and functioning correctly, showing the correct resistance values for a resting state of 2.2K approximately. The two unused zones are set as Unused. The problem I have is this. In the Wintex diagnostics (Expander Status section) the 8XE expander shows that it is off line (Not fitted) , Zero volts. Expander Network Errors 0. Expander Box Tamper Open .…

I have a galaxy flex panel and want to add wireless to it. I understand I can use both the Galaxy Flex Direct Mount RF Portal (A073-00-01) and also the C079-2 (RF portal in plastic housing). Is there any advantage/disadvantage between them? I assume that I could still use the C079-2 if I upgrade my current panel to a galaxy dimension? Also I assume that the C079-2 can be located away from the main panel and so would be able to locate it to get the best signal?

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on alarm system design for my 10x8 garden office (timber) with 2 glass opening windows and an opening door (also with glass). I know a bit about alarms and happy to install, just want some clarification. Looking to install 1 x dual tech PIR (to cope with heat imbalance when sun is on windows). How would this work being the only zone? I'm not intending on adding any other sensors as I beleive the PIR will provide all the protection needed. Can you have a 1 zone PIR alarm system? Not quite sure what systems would support this - I guess I'd need a short entry delay. Ideally would be great to disarm remotely, but want a fairly profession…

Didn't see this section so posted in the detectors section by mistake, might get more visability here Hi We have just had an extension which now covers an alarmed Patio door (2 Shocks and 1 contact) and also an internal Window (2 shocks). These have now been replaced with internal doors so I wanted to move the sensors to the extension which has 2 entrances with windows either side I can move the old patios door shocks to the main entrance which comprises of 2 large windows with french doors in the middle, so thats 1 shock per window and contact on the door. The side entrance has a single door with 2 smaller window panels, will the shocks be o.k for this o…

Hi, Thanks for all the advice on my previous topic. I have acquired myself a Galaxy 48 along with an RF Portal and a number of wireless DTs and Door Contacts. I seem to be having a small problem though. For some reason the panel won't allow me to enable all 4 of the virtual RIOs for RF devices. I get an error about max rio count reached even though there is only the RF Portal and the two onboard RIO's. The 48 should allow 6 in total shouldn't it? (4 external). Now I don't actually need all 32 wireless zones only 20 but I do need to add a traditional RIO when it arrives from Fleebay and I'm concerned that it won't let me have 3 RF rio's enabled and a nor…

Hi, I had this alarm fitted and now need to go wireless. The c079 module states it needs a new firmware update. My panel says v1.0. Would be expensive to update it? Many thanks.

Hi, I have a conventional fire alarm panel installed in my home that I would like to connect to my intruder alarm mainly to take advantage of SMS notifications should a fire or fault be detected by the fire alarm panel when I am away from home. Please note the fire alarm panel will remain connected to the existing sounders and I have no intention to interfere with those. The fire alarm panel is a conventional two zone "Precept 2" that I believe has volt-free outputs for fire and faults that I want to connect to spare zones on my intruder alarm. The Outputs are labelled "Aux 1 Fire" "Aux 2 Fire" "Aux Fault" all have three terminals: C, P, O. Does C = Cl…

Hello, I know many of you are Security Engineers who fit Alarms and CCTV and etc. Have anybody ever looked at other Safety Defences? Reason I ask this is due my grandparents got a local alarm company and he did not pick up on Locks, Outside Lights, gates, smoke detectors but just that they never had Alarm and quoted for alarm system.

Hi all I'm new here, i have worked in the industry for years but never did to much with honeywell alarms, i was a cctv installer for 11 years, mostly stuck to AV and CCTV, i have a Honeywell Accenta allarm to install on my parents house next week, all looks straight forward apart from iv read the manual and the 3 programs are confusing me slightly, i understand program 1 is everything, then program 2 Timed states it should be entry route and P3 will delay if an entry route is triggered first but if not will go off instantly. my question is i take it P1 uses P2 zones for entry/exit delay as i could not see how to specify specific zones as entry/exit? also I'…

Earlier in the year I installed an I-on40 and two keypads, type KP-01. I had a problem after a month of two whereby the keypads beep indicating 'Duplicate Entry.' I tried replacing the keypads, but this did not resolve the issue. I had thought that it might be caused by line termination. It worked for several months, with one -the furthest away- terminated and the other unterminated, but the 'Duplicate Entry'; has returned. KP1 is located about 1 meter away from the I-on40; KP2 is located about 10 meters away. KP1 is set to address 4; KP2 to address 2. The error occurs whether I try setting or unsetting the I-on40 either manually, by typing in the code, or by using a fob.…
