  1. No different, I deleted them and readded them onto a different virtual RIO and still the same. I'm wondering whether the Smokes manage their apparent 5 year battery life by not sending supervision signals at all or as often. I've emailed honeywell about it but I'm not holding my breath.
  2. I have tried a restart and I think they've always done it. It's more a case of wanting to know why they do it than it causing a problem as the system usually set without a code and the keypad is only allocated to groups A1-A5 so only these set. The fires are on group A8 so it's only when using a code to set the system tries to set A8 and comes up with the RF Check thing. I'll try deleting the zones and re-creating them see if that solves it.
  3. They can't reset it, but their user level allows them to override the need for a reset and still arm the system if need be. I have checked and both zones are not on pre-check
  4. Typical! I just tried to replicate it so I can grab screenshots from the Online keypad and lo and behold it doesn't do it! There's nothing in the logs at all which is strange. I'll try and describe it from memory. When trying to set the rkp says "2 RF TO CHECK Press ENT or < > to view" or something similar. Pressing Ent begins setting pressing < or > cycles through 2 zones... 1051 Smoke Up FIRE and 1052 Smoke Down FIRE When it happens again I'll grab some screenshots. Thanks, Ian EDIT : Forgot to add - it is an RF Portal (C079-2)
  5. No, not yet! lol I enjoy tinkering and yes I totally agree that a Galaxy 520 in a domestic is way OTT as is a smoke cloak in the garage/workshop/office but it's good fun I do have another query if anyone fances a stab in the dark with it I am getting a message on the normal Mk7 rkp when setting which says "2 RF TO CHECK" and when I scroll through them it is the two smoke detectors that are listed. On checking them they are both showing 10/10 for signal strength so I'm confused about what it wants me to 'check' exactly!
  6. Maybe move the Smoke Cloak from the garage to the house then
  7. Thanks for the input guys. You'd think something seemingly so simple would be straightforward on a panel. I can imagine many situations where an instant internal but delayed bell would be the order of the day! I think Links is the way to go, thanks for that gem. It would be a reflex timer that would then delay the bell output, now just to see whether or not it is 'cancelled' if the system is disarmed before the timer expires (I have a feeling it won't be ) Another thought I came up with is to have another group with no zones in it but using setting logic is set whenever any other combination is set and then use that group to enable the intruder output... If links doesn't work I'll give that one a go. Alternatively I could just get rid of the delay and put a MasterBlaster in the kitchen.... I imagine they'd only make that mistake once
  8. Hi, I have a Galaxy Dimension with 5 groups and external bells etc. I have a 1 minute bell delay (mainly to prevent annoying neighbours when wife/kids ignore the alarm and wander into the kitchen before turning it off etc. However I want an internal sounder to activate immediately. I can manage this by setting an output as INTRUDER but my problem comes when the system needs disarming following such an activation. The internal sounder will only stop once the system is reset and not just when it is disarmed. Certain users (mother in law, parents, kids) don't have the required user level to be able to reset and so can't stop the internal sounder. Is there another output type I am missing that isn't subject to the 'bell delay' but in all other ways operates as a bell output? I tried assigning set groups which kind of works but all 5 groups then need to be set for the sounder to operate and there are occasions such as evening when only 3 groups are set. Incidentally I do have Force restore (51.56) set to Unset/Unconfirm but it doesn't stop the intruder output when the system is unset, as I said it only stops the output when the system is reset. Hopefully I've made sense with the above. Thanks, Ian
  9. Thanks GalaxyGuy That makes sense now, although it is confusing that the system gives the option for 4 virtual addresses then! So to use 32 wireless zones you'd need 2 portals? One other quick question, reading through the manuals am I correct in thinking that on the old RF RIO (C076) you could program buttons on an RF fob to be individual zones (I'm thinking to trigger links for some lighting etc). Is there any way of doing this on a C079-2 or are fobs just for standard set/unset etc? Thanks again
  10. Hi, Thanks for all the advice on my previous topic. I have acquired myself a Galaxy 48 along with an RF Portal and a number of wireless DTs and Door Contacts. I seem to be having a small problem though. For some reason the panel won't allow me to enable all 4 of the virtual RIOs for RF devices. I get an error about max rio count reached even though there is only the RF Portal and the two onboard RIO's. The 48 should allow 6 in total shouldn't it? (4 external). Now I don't actually need all 32 wireless zones only 20 but I do need to add a traditional RIO when it arrives from Fleebay and I'm concerned that it won't let me have 3 RF rio's enabled and a normal RIO. Am I missing something obvious? in advance!
  11. I think I will go wired wherever possible (I need to do some poking around with cable rods to see where I can get exactly). miaren - why would you relocate? and where would you suggest?
  12. Thanks for all the options. I think I'll go with Galaxy as the second hand Galaxy kit appears to be much more prevalent and cheaper! I realise that it probably is a little OTT for residential but I don't see any other solution that would offer areas with the ease that the Galaxy does. Also if I pick up a Dimension I can integrate the driveway gate into the system for access control. I'll do my best to get cabling where I can and then go wireless for where I can't.
  13. Thanks for all the replies. I guess I'll look at wireless in some more detail... Is there any preference between Galaxy and Texecom? FYI - the floor plan is here and I marked the intended location of PIR's, Door contacts etc. The panel isn't actually mounted in the toilet, there is a false back wall there with the consumer unit and incomer hidden behind a concealed door where there is also room for the panel. !

  15. Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the confusion... it's not a 'new' new house it's new to me! So all trades etc are run already. I've not got the keys yet but I know upstairs ceilings are all solid concrete and the upstairs floor is concrete but the ceiling might have been boarded downstairs as there are downlights fitted which obviously couldn't be in a solid ceiling but there would be no access to the cabling without hacking holes in it...
