I’m in the market for a new residential alarm system, these are the systems I’m considering - Scantronic i-on160EX - Electronics Line iConnect 2-way - Risco LightSYS2 (or Agility 3) I need a hybrid system since I’m considering the replacement if my existing wired system. The challenge I’m having is that I want to install this system myself. I’m not an ‘installer’ but have installed alarms in the past, including the Cytech Comfort system so am used to the complexities involved and complex configurations. I’m a self-confessed home-automation geek with 25+ years experience in data/telcoms too. So whilst I appreciate some/most endusers need the help of a professional in…

  2. Hello, I have recently installed an Agility. I have found it to be a brilliant system. Having little prior knowledge of Risco systems I have got it all set up using the 2 way keypad. Full/Part set via the keypad works fine. My problem is that I can only get my 2-way 8 button remote to unset and part set. I have two of them both use different pin codes and both of them do the same for some reason they will not full set. Is there something in the programming settings that i'm doing wrong ? I'm hoping that an expert on here has come across this one and can help me. Thanks for looking/reading and helping if you can. ) Richard

HI, Hopefully someone can offer some advice. I have a Homelink 75 fitted with a 750REUR-00 (from cooper security), it was fitted by an alarm specialist, I would rather not have to contact this person as I have had some issues in the past and he doesnt have the best customer services. Recently it keeps complaining of error "Ext Siren 01 Sup Fail", this is not preventing me from activated the alarm but the fault doesnt clear, also intermittenly when not activated it will continually beep until you enter your code in then ok the message for the error. I initally presumed it was the batteries in the 750REUR-00 unit so these have been changed with the same batteri…

Could you tell me what cores i would use to connect the auto dialler. There are 4 terminals on the back of the panel, 2 for line and 2 for set could you tell me what cores to use to connect to a phone line. Thanks in advance Jamie

I have some questions if anyone can please assist with any before I order. I am using 3 x tritechs in house (a little ott but for pet tolerance) - I also have a conservatory that gets very hot but will not have pets. Are the Tritechs a good detector for domestic use with pets? Should I just use another tritech in the conservatory or would something like a DT7450 be better? Has anyone used the Texecom Odyssey 5 compact or is it best to stick with full size? I have 3 x M12 smoke alarms on 1 zone and my installer who usually uses EOL doesnt have much experience of fitting these. He was going to check but can anyone advise what may be required when using these i…

Hello, I got a new/old stock 9651en for a friend, in the log around about the start there is a EEPROM fail then there are several other entries like tampers, pa zone open. Then there is entries that I know I have caused like system startup, lid tamper, engineer on site. Roughly where I started generating entries in the log there has not been another mention of EEPROM fail. Is it normal to have EEPROM fail at the very start of the log? Thankyou Djrock

  8. Dear forum, I am desperate for some help with wiring for my new alarm system bell box. After many failed attempts and a ringing head my problem is: - I have an infinite prime alarm with a wireless sounder module (inf-wsm) with the following four terminals in: S T - + - I am trying to connect to a ADE Reson 8 bell box which has FIVE TERMINAL points: Rtn - Hold off + Hold off - Trig - STB - I cannot get the configuration of the wiring correct to make it sound when the control panel sends a signal. Can anyone offer advice as to how I connect the four cables to the five terminal positions to correctly install. Many thanks Richard

  9. I'm considering adding break glass detection to our intruder alarm (the rear of our garden backs onto a public footpath). I'm reasoning that break glass would enable the system to detection intrusion that bit faster & possibly even deter entry into the building. (Detection inside the rooms is by dualtechs). My question relates to the railway beyond the path - it carries mostly freight trains (coal) but does carry passenger trains at weekends. We get a fair amount of vibration from these trains, both low frequency from the heavy, slow coal trains & higher frequency from the faster passenger services. I know that break glass works by detecting a particular s…

Hi I've added a second bell as shown in Elite bell manual. For bell 1 I removed wire MSW 2 and connected it to bell 2 MSW 1 as required. No tamper wire to bell 2 as required. Bells are being used in SCB mode. Both bell box lids off and not connected to control unit 24-W at all. I (made the firstmistake) of setting jumper to SCB first then jumper to enable battery on bell 1 then closed lid. (I now know I should connect battery first then jumper to SCB according to manual...I forgot!) It probably took longer than 2 mins to move ladders to second bell, fit jumper to SCB and then jumper to enable battery then close lid. At this point no alarm. Then I c…

  11. Hello, First, I would like to apologize for my english which is really terrible. Then, maybe somebody can help me to solve my problem: I just receive my kit of Galaxy Flex 20 + MK80 keyprox + 3 Activ8 pir detectors. I wire everything as recommended. - My PIR detectors are wired with 1KOhm in || with "Relay" and 1KOhm in serial for eol. - Each zone is occupied by a single detector. - The 3 detectors are connected to zone 1002 (Exit) 1003 (Intruder) 1004 (Intruder). - Unused zones are "terminated" by a 1KOhm. - The keyprox MK8 is set to address A, with a 860Ohm Eol and connected to A-B of RS485. - The RF Portal is set to address 0, connected t…

  12. Hi ive installed a texecom 24 alarm, with 24 zones and 4 keypads, some zones and one keypad are in an outbuilding which I may wish to set separately to the main house, can someone explain how to set this up, I don't need every keystroke / programming just the basic principle. Am I correct in thinking this would be different to a part set? Many Thanks Andy

Hello, Could someone please tell me how to connect these two systems? I have something wrong; when the alarm it's activated the bell rings for 5 seconds (no blue light) but than flashes a blue light and goes silent. I have attached the pics of the two boards so you can help me better. All the other functions of the alarm are working fine. This is an old installation that it was not made by me. I really appreciate some help please!? Alarm circuit: http://postimg.org/image/h9lhqh739/ Bell circuit: http://postimg.org/image/9y61h07wp/ Regards, Raul Nunes

I have the Gardtec 370 581/582.alarm. Twice recently even when not armed the alarm has gone off with error code Fb which it says is fuse/battery failure. Any idea how do I disable the alarm completely so as to prevent this temporarily and who do I contact to buy a new battery. Thanks for any help.

  15. Hello all, Long time listener, first time caller. I have helped friends with installs of the above system and have one at home. Due to a significant extension and driveway access to my house from both front and rear of the property I have decided on adding an extra sounder. I feel like the manual for the Texecom Odyssey 2 Sounder is missing a step, when showing how to wire two sounders while maintaining the tamper switches on both sounders. Could someone who has experience with wiring two texecom bell boxes please explain where I am going wrong here. Remove tamper wire from MSW 2 on first unit and connect to spare core. On second unit connect spare core into M…
