  1. . I'm in Louth in Lincolnshire. I'm think the detector head from ADT will fix the problem, if not I'll get someone out. Now the siren isn't going off at all hours all is well. I've got standalone smoke detectors and a CO detector so we'll know when the turkey is ready )
  2. I understand removing the detector head might not have been the best thing to do but it's stopped the internal siren sounding which was my first priority. I was close to cutting the wires on Sunday night when it was going off at all hours. ADT, who installed the system want £225 for the first half hour plus £98 for every subsequent half hour here, plus they wouldn't have been able to come out straight away as contract customers take priority. I haven't been able to find a replacement detector head online or locally so now I'm waiting for ADT to quote me for a replacement detector head.
  3. Removing the detector has stopped the siren sounding which was the reason for my post in the first place. Then I was going to organise someone to come and look at it. It seems that I'll be able to do it myself now anyway but thanks for the reply )
  4. Well that didn't work, it's gone off twice since. Stood on a stool and twisted the detector anti-clockwise and took the bottom half off the ceiling. I can now see what make and model it is (Thorn SGU601) Apparently the detector head needs servicing every 5 years. If I can't source one locally tomorrow I can get one from Tyco part no. 616.023.001
  5. Hi, yes I've now got that zone on a soak test, so will be able to get it sorted out now. The detector does have a cover but I think it's in the attic. My plan is to wait for the zone to trigger again, hopefully without the siren sounding!, then to put some cling film over the detector and see what happens. The detector does have a light on it which I assumed would be lit up if it had indeed detected some CO. After a bit more poking around on t'internet, I've seen it said that the sensors in CO detectors last for 5-6 years so maybe that's the problem. Thanks for the input everyone !
  6. Ok, I've downloaded the installation manual, found out how to do a soak test, and now I'm going to enter the codes so fingers crossed. for that! Rich
  7. Ah, sounds good, any ideas how I can do that? This isn't just an irritating beeping alarm, it's a full on internal siren that my neighbours can hear 3 doors away so really can't put up with it for long.
  8. Hi, yeah I have bought a CO detector to put in the hall which is where the CO sensor connected to the alarm is. The boiler isn't on, and wasn't on Sunday when it first went off, the hall door was also shut and nobody is showing any symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. The only headaches are coming from the internal alarm.
  9. Hi, yeah I'm sure it isn't going off because of CO, the boiler isn't on apart from the pilot light, and it wasn't on Sunday, I just want to turn the whole thing off while I organise someone to come and look at it. I emailed the manufacturer this morning but they haven't replied. To be certain I have a CO warning disc I can use just in case.
  10. Hi, can someone help? I have an Accord XPC panel. The internal alarm went off on Sunday while I was out. My neighbour told me when I got home and I noticed that it was zone 5, the CO detector. I thought it was a one off but then it went off again Sunday night when we were all asleep. Then again about 5 times yesterday evening so I ended up sleeping on the sofa in case it went off again during the night - which it didn't . I came home tonight and it was going off again! I have the manual and know the engineer code but can't work out how to turn the system off completely until I can get someone round to look at it. At first I thought I could turn off zone 5 but I can't. Any ideas? Thanks Richard
