Just a guess really but I had a problem recently which was caused by my Sky + !!

Mine was the other way round though, Lost broadband but phones OK. Removed splitters etc and finally unplugged Sky + box and all was fine. Must admit I have not tried plugging it back in since though !! Wife tells me the Sky + wil only record the same channel you are watching now so suspect the box is faulty !!

And you did have a filter on the Sky+ phone line connection?

And you did have a filter on the Sky+ phone line connection?

I've seen that so many times.....

Broadband running like a dog, no filter on the Sky box. Sky installer either didn't know or ask about Broadband or (most commonly) said it wasn't required! :realmad:

As Monteey described it does sound like a HR diss. DSL sig works fine on 1 leg out of 2. The DSLAM can cut Dial tone off due to the card failing in the exchange. I take it you have tried another telephone !!!. If you try to ring the line does it become engaged.

Yes I did that is how I traced the problem, I originally unpluged the filter completly and it all came back, plugged the Sky back in and lost it again

BT came and fixed (took 2 weeks to get to me but it was the festive season).

It was the problem that Montey described and the engineer confirmed the the ADSL was working fine on one leg.

Thanks for the advice guys, it gave me enough comfort to think it was not something we had done.
