Hi all was hoping for some help here I have just joined and have left an introduction in the new kids area, anyway we have a networkx nx-4/8 security system in out house and the bloody thing is driving me nuts I cannot at this time afford to get some one in, my issue is this, the fire alarm keeps going off and the service light is on , 2 zones are always showing movement on the keypad , I am thinking the back up battery may require replacing as it has been in since we bought the house 3 years ago, the ex owner left us instructions and told us not to open the main control door as it has a tamper alarm fitted as such i am not game to attempt to open it but i need to fix …

Hi everyone, Before I start I am not (as you'll probably gather) an alarm engineer. I've just taken over a property that has a scantronic 9800 key pad and I think it has a scantronic box with a versus redcare system. The previous owner had a contract with ADT that is now defunct. The redcare is not operational. I have the old users access codes to enable and disable the alarm plus I was given an engineers code that I was told would work if I had problems. Well I have problems!! The service and fault lights are constantly illuminated and I am getting EF, rr, t4 error codes. I cannot clear the panel and reset the system. I've tried the engineers code and it does no…

I came on this forum looking for advice. What I get instead is abuse. I have spelled out my aims and my mission but wearily I get the same old same old. I went to a new housing estate Yesterday looking to offer security upgrades to vunerable homes. This is a new estate part built with homes that have been finished being lived in and part finished homes fenced off. I spoke to the security company who have signs up on the metal fences and they informed me they are taking the builder to court as they haven't paid the security bill. He told me the builder is going into administration and the part finished homes won't be finished anytime soon. There are homes on mixed str…

Does anyone know of anyone in Kent who can service a Siemens system (other than BTE)... in particular I want to get rid of some Wagner aspirating systems (they have a detector head installed within...) Unless anyone knows how to adjust these things for air flow etc .. we keep getting faults up (have no idea exactly what at this stage) I'd love to dump them and replace with something a little more user friendly....

Had a busy week this week and have installed 6 alarms. THREE to people who had been burgled via their eurocylinder lock. I will be buying some Eurocylinder locks and sash jammers to add to my vans stock. Also fitted a safe as I carry those on board too. For someone with a Scooby and worried about the keys being stolen. I am still not happy with my local neignbourhood and community police as despite my offering lock replacements, sash jammers and sold secure safe installations as well as dummy bell box fittings they won't endorse me as I don't have NACOSS despite it being irrelevant to those particular applications. When the last three houses I have been to have been …

Another bad takeover today! System installed and serviced by major company: No fused spur - connection to fusebox on unmarked shared lighting fuse. Twisted joints, unsoldered in tape. External sounder not working (audible-only, last serviced Sept 08). Battery date changed from 1998 to 2008! Customer 86 years old, probably says it all!

Hi, we have this unit in our small office building, which was fine for around a year and a half, then we started getting tampers on multiple zones whilst here in the day. Our service company applied some filters etc to prevent elec. spikes but the problem continued. Then they replaced the control panel as they thought it was faulty, but the problems remained. They then fitted some more filters etc to rule out rf interferance, problem still remains.... So, not sure how to resolve this. The tamper fault occurs seemingly randomly, and we are getting it few times per week. I am able to reset this using our fobs, ( which I thought you couldnt do if it was a real tamper?). …

I would just like to say that we fitted our First I-ON16 wireless panel today. We have always walked away from wireless systems but after the Cooper Rep, Karl Parlane (Nrth West) came to our offices and demo'd the panel,We were happy to give it a go. WOW!!! You guys out there that haven't tried this panel need to pull your fingers out, It was so easy and i was in and out in half the time. The programing is so easy and the keypad tells you exactly what to do. I rang Karl @ 1900hrs and to my surprise got an answer, He was more than happy to run through the programming....NOT because i had made a mistake, But because i thought that i hadn't done it right as it was too easy.…
