Pc5010 Engineer In Yorkshire, Help Required

Featured Replies

Hi guys not sure if this is the right section, so mods please move if ive made a mistake. We have a house which has a pc5010 unit in it, we know the code but not how to set up the zones. We also have out buildings that we want to cover on the house alarm. Im trying to find some details or get a technician thats fairly local 'Yorkshire" to help out.

im looking to wire up the door contacts, pirs and smoke alarms in the out buildings then run the cables to the house and to the unit. Then get a professional in to connect to the unit and zone it up as looking at the manual gets a bit confusing!!

If anyone has any tips that i can do to wire it in myself that would be great. I also want to add a few more door contacts in the house into the unit.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt there will be many engineers that are familiar with DSC panels, they dont even have distribution in the UK now. We are in West Sussex too far away from you to be able to help but I do know someone that might be able to help how far away is Cumbria from you?

Of course the alternative is to use a popular panel

Even to the nearest County border, it's a long old hike.

Option B would be the cheaper option in the absence of other volunteers

Thanks for the reply guys - Peter Cumbria is about 150 miles from me, id be happy to pay a day rate but not sure your friend would want to travel that far? maybe they could talk me through it??

Steveo + Cubit - I suppose the other alternatives are really get to grips with the dsc manual or get a new panel. Would i be able to keep all the door contacts and pirs in situ and just change the panel on the wall? possibly for a texe?

I appreciate that an engineer would want to replace the whole system and install all the hardware. But as its already all wired in, it seems expensive to rip it all out to replace it. Any help on this would be great cheers again.

You should be able to reuse the detectors. But my main concern is your Redcare comment. is it currently serviced by an alarm co?

Thanks James, no the redcare isn't connected if it were I wouldn't be messing with the alarm. Do you reaLly think I'm better changing the panel?

I'd change the panel for something easier and better supported. Or get a company that supports that panel

cheers not quite sure what to do, don't fancy paying for a full re wire. Might try and find someone on here who would wire up the new panel using the old pirs and door connects etc ...

You can use the old detectors and cabling. When i say id replace it, id replace the control equipment
