As you all like a pic, I thought I'd show you these Dont see this set up too often (its the only job we do with them fitted......) Close up of the switch mechanism, Clever in how it works, bit of an **** to get them happy. There is a switch in each connection unit. Needs to be tensioned up between two contacts, so if wire cut, switch makes one way, if the wore is stretched it pulls the switch the other way, or if bent the wire touches the metal contact you can see above! They go through an analyser type unit, which then connects to the panel. Its a Gal 60 now, but it started off as a Group 4 alarm back in the mid 70's! (which i suspect these wires are!) Probab…

  3. Hi all, I'm looking to add audio to existing cameras on an installation on a farm. The existing cabling feeding these cameras is cat5, can the audio be done over this cabling?? The audio in connections on the back of the dvr are BNC type, does this mean i can use baluns either end (with phono to bnc convertor at microphone end) and bobs your uncle??!! Also i will need sound to the existing monitor, the audio out connection on the dvr is also BNC type, will i be able to just add an audio cable between dvr and monitor with a phono to bnc convertor?? Also do you know of any good adjustable microphones to use?? Hope this explains all. -Steve

  6. Hi folks, just opened up a panel today and got the shock of my life.... a great big ruddy spider staring back at me, wondering why I'd disturbed its slumber!! I know panels can get nice and warm but this is ridiculous! The damn thing had spun enough silk to give me a new tie (not that I wear a tie very often..) - took me ages to clear the 'mess' up. The spider was 'accidently' squashed between the inside of the panel and the large battery. Fried spider anyone? Incidentally, the spider looked like it could have carried the battery from one side of the panel to the other, it was that huge!

Wales win and England lose. Except for my mate Dave Jones who I found out died a couple of hours ago. At least he went the way he would have wanted, peacefully in his sheep.

Hi Guys I have fitted an Karizma plus panel in house, about 3 years ago, & recently it has started saying point tamper fault on every zone that is fitted, spoke to Ade techanical they said change all the ID Biscuitss for the new type which I did but the fault is still there. If I leave the system on soak test none of the points go into fault. If I remove the wires to the ID line the fault will clear for an couple of hours & then return Any suggestions on what I could do next please???
