I am hoping somebody can advise me. We moved home 2 years ago and inherited the alarm system as topic. The installation was completed in the (McClean) house Jan 1997. I was only given the owner code and no documentation or instructions for this system. Recently a thunderstorm plunged our road into darkness as the mains power went off for a couple of hours. This was accompanied by the sound of our outside siren which eventually stopped. I could not reset the alarm as the numeric panel appeared to be dead. Later about 2:00 AM the power was restorred, our siren once again made its presence felt! I could not reset the alarm, my user code was not being accepted! The internal s…

My Optima 2 has suddenly developed a fault on zone 1...front door contact and keeps on bleeping when the door opens. The figure 1 appears on the panel but can be dismissed by a reset. However when the door is opened again the bleep is triggered again and we are back to the cycle start again. Any Ideas

Hi. I hope someone out there can help me?! Am just installing a new home alarm. My problem comes when I unset the alarm after setting it up. Passing any of the PIRs activates the alarm with a tamper error. I damn sure I've got the wiring right, and have even tried jumpering the tamper terminals at the control box end. The people at Nexus weren't much help, but I tried returning the panel and getting a replacement, same problem. Thanks in advance, Jaspar

Hello , I have replced the elderly optima 2 control panel which was in my house when we moved in with an Optima G3 compact panel . I am re-using all door contacts, cabling ,PIR's to save a lot of work and expense and so far fine but cannot make sense of viper 3 sensors fitted to windows . I can power them and they seem to work as a knock will start LED flashing after 8 sec delay , however using a meter I cannot see any difference over alarm contacts . Installation instructions dont help much . Any advice would be welcome . Thanks folks John

I'd appreciate any help or advice anyone can give. I have an unmonitored Accord XPC system. It has been working perfectly for several years. Last weekend we had new carpet fitted to an upstairs bedroom. Halfway through a continous alarm tone started - I checked the control panel and it was telling me that there was a 'zonal tamper' in zones 6 & 7. After checking the manual zone 6 is the bedroom where the carpet was fitted and zone 7 is 'C/O' (don't know what that means). I tried to reset the system according to the manual but no joy. I now cannot set the alarm - does anyone have any advice how to get this sorted? I am beginning to think that maybe the carpet fi…

I moved into my house over 2 years ago and dont know a great deal about the alarm that is installed. I know how to set and unset and thats it. I know nothing of how the set Zones etc. It is a Veritas 8. I need to move a cable which is hanging loosely (never been covered by trunking etc) I want to place it underneath some trunking to hide it. To do this I think Im going to have to disconnect it in order to place it inside the trunking. But I will need to turn off the alarm, and I have no idea how to do so. Does anyone have an instruction manual to email me or guide me on how to power off the alarm all together. There is a fuse box outside the alarm My email is David.Bank…

Help I have an ADE Optima Compact (6 Zone) alarm which I installed and maintain myself, whilst recently doing some building and decorating work I changed some settings and configurations to prevent accidental setting off of the alarm. I have now finishe the building work and have finished rewireing the panel back to it's correct state, however in the upheaval I have lost both my engineering and user manuals. Can anyone help with a copy of these manuals so that I can reset my alarm to normal operation? Thanks.

Hi there, Have been looking at your site as a guest, and am very impressed with your knowledge on all things 'alarms', and wondered if any of you could send some of your good advice my way I'm no expert myself, so I'll explain my probel in as simple terms as possible. We have had an Optima XM alarm for about 10 years now, and I'm ashamed to admit it has only ever been serviced once. We have never experienced any problems with it until yesterday. Because of a burnt out cable located between mine and next doors property, we lost electricity for 9 hours yesterday. During this time the alarm just had the green light on (so I assumed it was still powered up, but on the b…

Hi All, I recently moved in to a house where the seller assured me before purchase that the alarm system was working. I tested the alarm soon after moving in and found out that this was not the case, quite the opposite. Of the 4 detection / alert components, 3 of them do not work. Namely the external siren, external strobe, and 1 of the 2 PIR's. The 2nd PIR works and sets off the Internal alarm when doing a walk test. The control Panel seems to be functioning correctly, as does the 2nd PIR. As for the other components I have no idea what the problem is. Generally, do you think it is worth fixing or replacing? I understand it can be replaced for something in the reg…
