I have noticed within the trade a high percentage of Engineers will find one panel and defend that panel from all criticism even if that criticism is justified could this be wrong? I understand that it is very easy to "keep to what you know" but surely as Engineers we should not be limited by this and must have an open mind, even the ATS and the dreaded Europlex 3Gs have good and bad points! So what makes you use the panel that you do, is it cost? ease of use? or is it just to keep to what you know?

Hi there i have just installed the above panel but have had nothing but trouble with programing the system. I am a electrical contracter that does just 2 -3 alarm install a year so this is not my main type of work. I have been working away from home and was asked to install a alarm I would normally use a scantronic panel but the place I got the alarm from did not carry Scantronic and sold me a Texecom telling me it would be easy to program. But I have hade a lot of wasted time just trying to set up the system. And in the end gave up on it. So Im now trying to get some help here maybe. Thanks Mark

Hello, I have a Concept 6 alarm and wish to move the Remote keypad from it's current position. I have the installation manual but am worried about the tamper spring when I remove the front case of the RKP to get at the fixing screws. Is there a procedure for removing the front case? I'm just a bit worried about setting off the alarm and not be able to turn it off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. kind regards, Darren

We have just moved and our new house has a Galaxy 16 Plus CP171 installed. The phone line the alarm uses is the normal residential BT line. From reading other forums (some in the USA), I think our alarm should be able to "seize" that phone line to make an outbound alarm call, even if someone is already speaking on it (or a burglar has picked up the phone). Is that right ? (we are being told by our alarm company that that is not true and so we need to have a separate line installed or have RedCare service. Thanks for your help.

Never posted here before. Found you thro' Google. Looks like a really helpful forum so thought I'd post my problem. ANy help very much appreciated. I've got the above alarm with 2 PIR sensors and a magnetic sensor on the front door. I've been getting false alarms recently. No sign of any intruder causing this. All doors downstairs shut at night. Seems to happen on hot nights. Any ideas?! Thanks Pete

Hi. I was called to a job yesterday where there were two doors which were not locking consistently. They are 24v and are locked when voltage is applied, controlled by a key pad. I removed the first one and it was the type that has a small brass screw with a spring behind it and 3 little pieces of rod, 2 small and 1 larger. I removed the brass screw and the spring and rods fell out. I managed to get it all back together and with a little lubrication the lock worked fine. The second one I just lubricated it and it worked ok, job done or so I thought. Anyway later on I got a call saying that the first one I looked at was now locked permanently and could not be rele…

  13. some time ago when our dear Ken was in charge, i wrote and asked about setting up a DD, so if i went into the zone i get charged accordingly - simple you would think. but i was told they could not do that at this time, and were not even considering it. so i replied in that case can i pay an amount up front and you draw from it as the charges required, i would beresponsible to keep it in credit, the mayors office could also earn some interest. now get this i was phoned by a lady who was head of some mayoral department and told "we, can't do that as we are not here to make a profit" and without a single falter in the voice, boy that was some acting performance. anyway, …
