i have posted a reply,

alarmgards advice to prove the panel 1st might seem patronising, especially when you've been going around in circles for a few hours scratching your head to shreds, but trust us it is the best sound advice to give and also sets you at a point where hopefully things work, and helps to elliminate the bits that don't.

most experienced alarm engineers will check the panel 1st on arrival, especially when dealing with diy installations, just in case the panel is faulty or has been inadvertently damaged by inexperienced hands.
