Following on from an old topic (that i cant find lol) Are you still experiencing issues with Door contacts and if so what and whos. We currently use elmdene for G2 + G3 but I am thinking of trialling the knight plastic G2. I cant use them on G3 as they are not immune to external magnets etc. But they look better (aesthetically) than the elmdene units. James

Went to a large local'ish estate today to visit a friend & happened to look at the bungalow opposite. Got a bit of a shock when I looked at the roof, there sat just under the dormer window & attached to the roof tiles was the bell box for their security system. When I was dumb enough to enquire about it my mate informs me that this is the way the local Sparky fits his bell boxes, god help him on a 3 storey house. On the way back from the estate we were driving down the main street of a local town & noticed a bell box fitted by a local approved installer, fitted about a foot down from the barge board with the cable for it comming out under the roof slates &…

Need some help here please. Never installed a max reader on a galaxy before and the customer wants one just to go through door. They want 6 fobs to just work on the max reader and another 4 fobs to unset/set alarm at keypad and also to work max reader. The max reader is only to go through door as there is a menvier zone omit module on the inside of a 24 hour door and max reader on the outside. I assume I need the reader to drive a relay to short the contact on the zone omit module to allow door to open. I also assume I need an egress switch on inside to allow access back outside. But how do I program this up from keypad. in advance.

Moved into the new build, it has a Scantronic 9751 bells only with 7 PIR's Need to replace all the PIR's with pet friendly ones. Installing company want £100 callout fee and a kidney for each PIR. So.. options. 1/ DIY. Are PIR sensors generic? eg - Pick anything from Fleabay and replace? Is swapping them over a simple task for the consumer? ( using a multimeter, drill etc etc is not an issue - Only having the user manual - I don't want to start something that I can't stop. eg Alarm wailing that a microswitch has been tripped. 2/ Any recommended companies in Basingstoke area that know this type of system and can do the work for a fair price. Thank you Troubl…

Hi all -- I have a customer who at present is using a camera and DVR to view his Cows calving in his farm which is 800 metres from his house over the Internet. The quality of this is not great however and he wants me to improve the system. We have line of sight and also running a cable would be no problem. It would be a huge advantage to him if he could also hear what was happening. So audio and video would be ideal. I'm thinking that some sort of buriable Cat5 with active Baluns might do but I'm not sure what spec cable, distance capable, best camera (with inbuilt audio or should that be separate?)etc etc Thankyou Rosko
