  3. Watchdog tonight showed a sting where Direct Security were involved. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2010/06/rogue_directresponse.html I did think that these sort of tactics had been removed from our industry. I find it worrying that it takes watchdog to highlight this. As i work for an NSI gold company i have to ask myself how on earth can these sort of things happen and not be handled by the inspectorate. This must have been going on for some time. Im shocked to say this firm are an NSI silver firm (not gold i will add) but i will have to ask for comment from them as to what complaints etc have been recieved. James

Something that came up the other day at SSS/TC was the problem of charges made by some providers regarding alarm signals I have compiled a list here that we can all add to etc here But basically we were having a lot of complaints from customers on digi. With the advent of daily test calls, open close/abort and extended formats, this has become an issue. Plus the fact that our ARC moved us from 0870 and 0845 numbers (that are included free in some telecom providers call packages) onto 0844 and 0871. We couldnt find a relaible and safe solution that didnt result in high telephone bills for the end user. We decided the only way for us was freefone numbers for the signalli…

  8. Following on from a comment on the DR thread, there was a statement made that some NSI Silver rules were not as stringent as Nacoss Rules. This came as a suprise to me as i was always under the impression the only difference was ISO. Anyway I have done a little research and as far as i can tell the NACP Codes of practice are not enforcable on silver firms. There are however ICP's that apply to silver companies. So things liek NACP 3 do not apply to silver firms. Not being silver i dont have the ICP's so cant compare but im assuming this is where the 'less stringent' thing comes from. Anyone know anymore? can i change that to 'perhaps less likely' with great respects. to the o/p, what RJB is saying and i endorse, is as with anything needing long term reliability and an ability by the supplier to sort any issues promptly, research who is supplying the service, not just the visible costs by going 'like on like' cost/spec.. you may get a cheap deal on an outright sale, yet 2 years down the line will they still be trading?. to show by comparison, RJB who is a respected good quality NSI Gold company in the red corner, i'm not registered with any trade organization so i'm the other side of the coin in the blue corner (i did my training on Chubbs), i don't ever advertise…
