New one on me. customer phoned yesterday morning to ask if the chirping noise on landing was caused by our alarm. Secretary asked how frequent - every 5mins or so. Secretary checked paperwork, only got a PIR on landing.. "have you got a smoke detector on the landing?" & the usual prevailed. "our smoke detectors are mains operated, so cant be batteries", so secretary got eng to call (me). "is it definetly inside the house & on the landing? & mains operated can still have batteries, definetly not the alarm, 100% sure." "so why does the chirping only happen at night?" "err, well maybe your at work? no? or maybe batteries perk up a bit (no i did NOT say that…

http://soldiers-pensions.co.uk/?q=petition PLEASE can you all sign this petition for soldiers pensions at the above link and pass on to all of your friends and families. For those of you who dont know, Sgt Matty Telford was killed 3rd Nov 2009 by a rogue Afghan Policeman. You will remember him from the news as 'Sergeant' Matty Telford, but the Army give his children his pension at Corporal rate because he was a sergeant for less than one year. The unfairness of this is that he was promoted so he could do this job in Afghan, and had he not been promoted he would have been doing a different job and may have been with us today. After this petition was started it…

o2's SMS TAP service went down again on friday the 1st of october. It has not been confirmed (as yet) if this is back up yet. If anyone is using this awful signalling system it might be time to advise your clients to use a digi or something that works (maybe even the lowly speech dialler lol) If anyone is using a paid for TAP provider it would be useful to know, as the free ones seem too unreliable for even modest risks.

Hi - I'm looking for a replacement for my Response SA5 which I have had installed from a previous property on a 'temporary' (5 years!) basis whilst I finish a self build house project. I now have around 16 separate, hard-wired door/window contacts and I want a new system that allows them to be individually monitored. On top of that, I'd like to have 6 or so wireless zones for possible future expansion eg garden shed etc. The next requirement is to have a built in voice dialer. Lastly, I want to be able to access the system via the internet in the event of an alarm so I can interact with it - switch it off, see which zone has been triggered etc. I already have some IP…
