My First Install

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just completed my first alarm install ( configuration is another issue! ).

Spec is : All Texecom except the PIRs

Premier 48

LCD/LCDL RKP X 2

comIP module / Wintex

Speech & Text Dialer

Zone Expansion module

Bell box

PIRs

etc...

I have installed everything ( except the speech dialer - 50% complete ). I have done the varying walk tests and all is working.

the questions I have are:

1. I would like to check on the speech/text dialer exactly what outputs I need to connect to as the varying manuals are at least for me contradictory.

Do I connect the dialer to the digi outputs on the lower left hand side of the panel, or the outputs on the upper right hand side next to the auxiliary tamper / power connectors?

The other question is can you explain how I can split the zones / areas. I am after being able to have a day and night arm so I can exclude upstairs overnight. And possibly split the keypads so downstairs rkp arms all zones of full and upstairs does a part arm.

I have read the manual several times and although I have a better understanding of how most features work, this is still a bit confusing!

Thanks All.

The outputs to go to the dialer are wired to the digi terminals on the left hand side. The ones on the upper right are progammable outputs usually used for other things.

For your other question there are a number of ways you can go and others more more experienced than me will help you more but for starters so you can start using the system....

The simplest way is to allocate all zones to one area (They default to area A so in essence do nothing about allocating zones to areas) then programme an "evening" arm that incorporates only the zones you wanted armed in that scenario. Disadvantage of this method is that it does require more button pressing each time you evening arm but not a lot.

Another way you could go would be to use "areas". There are lots of options here and I think others are better at explaining it than me.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

I had connected the dialer to the correct terminals, thats good. I did some re-configuration the other night, changed the settings on the digi ports to -ve switched. at that point the dialer called me on my mobile for message 1 and 2. I just need to test this a bit further and then customise the messages for the relevent alert.

Whilst configuring - in the "area" tab of Wintex software I found an option that was ticked, to activate the siren and strobe on alarm. I have temporarilly removed this. I hope that it will stop the external sounder going off and will allow me to complete testing - without annoying the neighbours as most of them work shifts and odd hours. But have not had the chance to test that yet either..

I was going to install a pizo on the bell circuit so I could test before the bell box was connected fully but in the end the bell box was fitted and now I am unsure if I can disconnect it without it going off due to either tamper or disconnection of the trigger.

I suppose I could set engineer mode and then disconnect it, but then am unsure if the battery in the bell box would run down to a point before alarming. So I am hoping that the setting which I have "unset" will do this for me just then alerting from the keypads.

With regards to the Area's and Part arms taking more keypresses - I saw an option in wintex for "fast arm" which should allow you to do this with one press of the "part" button ( if areas are assigned to keypads ) or do I have this wrong

Other than that the system seems to be doing what it was intended for so far. I have not had any tamper alerts or alarm triggers and the system has been up and running for a couple of weeks now.

cheers
