I have an informa speech dialler 12volt. I need to connect my ESP fire alarm 24v to it. The informa dialler accepts up to 15volts so how do I reduce the output of the fire alarm to 12 volts? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

Hi there I've been browsing through the forums looking for some advice on a home security setup and am having a hard time trying to work out how much I should be looking to spend to get something basic. House Description Semi detached with side entrace and gate to back door which I feels is the weakest point open plan lounge kitchen 3 bedrooms upstairs all coming off central landing 1 cat I've attached a very badly drawn plan of the house, red lines are for doors, blue are for windows. I'm really looking for a pet friendly control panel based system, not bothered about wired or wireless, as long as theres not too much mess! I know you would probably have to …

I have a window that is easily accessible and during the hot summer nights this window has to be left open. I can not install security grilles etc due to listed building planning laws. I am looking for a device to add to my security alarm that could detect someone coming in without any false alarms, I don't want to use a pir because of false alarms and the room is slept in sometimes. I have looked at several infrared red beams and wondered if anyone had come across this before? Thanks for any advice Mark

Hello all, congrats on a great and extremely helpful forum. I'm installing a Scantronic 9651 and had a couple of basic questions. Have an idea of answers but just want to be 100% certain. I'd be grateful if anybody could cover these off with the widespread knowledge out there: 1. Have set up a global tamper loop. How are the pair of terminals on the PCB marked, which the loop should be connected to since the manual doesn't state this? 2. The magnetic contacts I have bought appear to be closed units with 4 cores already attached. What is the recommended way of connecting the ends of these cores to the corresponding ends of the wires going to the control panel, to en…

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I have an Optima XL4 which has been playing up recently. I've had it installed for about 11 years and replaced the battery last year which fixed a previous problem but now I'm getting random errors popping up. At present the Attack light is lit, prior to that the Tamper light indicated a problem though this cleared when the system was left alone for a few days. The bell box doesn't flash when the alarm goes off and I was wondering if replacing the battery there would help? Any ideas? Thanking someone out there in advance

i went to look at an alarm today.... usual call, alarm not working can you come and fix it... turned up to find a optima compact, located on the stairs... no power on pirs. ask if it was okay to open it up. took out the two screws and carefully lifted off both covers. first thing i notices was were the transformer should have being were the words 'loft' next thing, date on the battery was 1998, and it was not even connected. hence no power........one pair of an 8 core looked like at one time could have supplyed the ac power from the tranformer. checked for voltage...nope... only one thing for it . climbed into the loft, with meter in pocket in search of whatever 'loft' …

  11. Hello, Can anyone please advise me where I might be able to obtain a replacement battery and strobe lamp for a CQR CeQuRa external sounder? The battery fitted is a 7.2v NiCad rechargeable with flying leads (GP280BNKX6) and the strobe bulb is not marked as to what model it is. The CQR CeQuRa external sounder is approx 14 years old and isn't the same as the V2 model on CQR's website. I did "ask Dave" on CQR's website, but unsurprisingly, I didn't get a response. Many thanks for your help.

Hello Everyone!! I'm about to purchase a brand new 4 bed detached house, which does not come with an alarm. I don't want a hard wired alarm as I'm not happy to have my floorboards ripped up as new houses use chipboards which never sit correctly again. Also, the house has a detached garage making a cable run problematic. I'm interested in a wireless alarm called the Infinite by a company called ESP in Birmingham - http://www.espuk.com . It is also EN 50131 compliant. I'm particularly drawn to it as it can have an X10 module installed so I can control things around my home. So..... 1) Can anyone recommend it? 2) Should I have it installed professionally? (I've r…
