I am neither an electrician nor an installer but would be grateful for help and advice with a Texecom “Premier” system that was professionally installed in July 2013 and has had annual maintenance ever since. The problem arose about 6 months ago when although being armed before leaving the house, we would then return home and on opening the front doors, the internal sounder would emit a warning tone and a fault message would appear on the keypad to the effect than an area was not fully armed. I then have to go through a series of key presses to clear the fault, all of which is beyond my wife and that of the cleaner, who enters the house in our absence. The problem is c…

Wondering if anyone can help us... does anybody have a copy of some type of engineers manual for the very old scantronic wireless nursecall systems... think they are the 609 series but can’t be certain... all I know is they are pretty ancient and obviously no tech support so anything would be appreciated

Hi, I've got a an Accenta Gen4 mini 8 zone alarm panel and remote key pad to install and configure, as a replacement to an existing alarm system, which has been removed and the new Accenta Gen 4 installed in its place. I am looking for an experienced electrician familiar with Honeywell Accenta Gen4 mini 8 Zone to wire in the existing wires and configure the system. Any help with recommending a good installer and idea of how much it'll cost? With thanks Gabriel.

Hi, I'm at home and my scantronics 9200 is going off every 30 minutes. It's not really going off off. It's crackling through the internal alarm sound system and its beeping a few times. Then stops. Any ideas what is wrong with it? If I were to unplug the mains fuse to the alarm would it just go off using the battery. Help, can't sleep, but also can't do anything without landlord permission and they can't be contacted until tomorrow.

Hi, I am considering installing a wireless alarm system in my house. Most of the ones I am looking at (Yale e.g. IA-210) are 868Mhz and I understood this was a better frequency than 433Mhz as it is less 'busy' so less prone to interference. Unfortunately, I have just discovered that the wireless thermostat that controls our central heating system also operates on 868Mhz. Please can anyone advise on whether it is likely that there will be interference between the thermostat and an alarm system operating on 868Mhz? Thanks, James

We have a Texecom Premier Elite system linked to a Control4 system and to the monitoring company. We are getting repeat false alarms from the smoke / fire alarms. This is a new thing after 7 years of happily working. The change is that these sensors are now installed in a newly built orangery, which has a fair bit of glass and does heat up a lot. We wonder if this is the issue. Has anyone experienced this or have any solutions please? The fire brigade are being very patient with us but we are wasting their time (we will send them a couple of apology crates of beer when all is done). Thanks

Not alarms true but can happen anywhere. Some friends of mine build and install motorised Security gates. They were on a job yesterday where the supply cable for their gates were installed by a local "Electrician" but had to be moved as it was on the wrong side of the gate, they were told that it was connected to the garage fusebox and isolated. Where the cable came out of the ground there was about 500mm sticking up with bare ends. So they drill a hole through the concrete post and without bothering to check that the cable was dead (They have the kit to do so and have been taught how to use it), they go to feed it through the post. One almighty bang & a load of …

I have a Texecom Elite 48, a few years old. it has an old firmware v.2.02 which is a long way behind the current versions. Although it's always worked well I was wondering if it was worth updating the firmware. Can a panel this old be updated to the latest version or is it restricted by the hardware? Would I really get any benefit or is it best to leave it alone? Thanks for any help!

I have just had a Pyronix Enforcer professionally installed but the installer seems to maintain control of the Pyronix Cloud access i.e. if I need an additional person authorised on the app I need to call the installer, if I want the notifications changed again I have to call the installer.I have access to the app of course. Is this normal for the installer to maintain such control?

Hello. Hoping for some advice, and maybe even someone for this job in North Kent. I've recently moved into a house that has a alarm system fitted in 1996. It has a Menvier Security TS700 panel. I'm no alarm engineer, so will ask a professional to do the work, but is it possible to replace the panel with something like a Texecom panel to enable wi-fi/internet app control, configuration, online alerts on the alarm system? Is there maybe something else that would work to enable these features? Is it as simple as replacing the alarm panel to create a new system using all the old wiring and sensors? Thanks very much for any help! Matt.
