Good Afternoon, Can anyone assist, I’m not a registered installer for Honeywell, but have a personal Galaxy Alarm which I have recently upgraded. My current version of the RSS software doesn’t accept the V7 firmware on the panel. I need the RSS software patch which is freely available to installers. Honeywell won’t assist Can anyone help please?

Hi. I'm trying to diagnose what is causing an ongoing tamper fault with a Menvier 30 system. Once every few days, one of the zones very briefly goes into a tamper state, then returns to normal. The zone comprises of three door contacts wired in series. The confusing thing is that there is no separate tamper circuit involved. Both 2K2 and 4K7 resistors are located inside the panel, and there is only one pair of wires in use. Am I looking at a panel fault here, or could there possibly be other issues such as induced voltage on the conductors that I need to look at? Thanks.

Hi I have a town centre bar and our alarm wont arm. Our provider is closed until monday and obviously with no alarm we have some insurance issues. It wont arm via the App. On site its showing superviser Fault, A CONF fault too.. If I try to arm with faults its just hangs at preparing to arm. I can access engineer menu. But cant work out how to arm whilst ignoring the issues. Can i omit the faulty sensors and still arm. Google suggests its possibly Battery issues but thats going to be a challenge to sort on a saturday morning Any help guys would be greatly appreciated Thanks Matt

  4. we have a scantronics 9800 in the house we bought in 2005 - it has worked OK but we are now getting a few problems so I need to decide repair or replace. Cant help but think that electronics has moved on leaps and bounds since the 90s when this system was installed and in any case we would like to extend it to give more coverage. Maybe add outside security too. So I am seeking opinions on what to go for. We are talking a three bed detached bungalow. Currently there are 2 magnetic door sensors and 2 movement sensors plus a bedside panic button, inside and outside sounders all hard wired and with the wires installed during building. I dont want to be cutting cha…

Hi All, I’ve finally gotten around to wiring out Honeywell Galaxy 20 alarm system. The Bell Boxes have been on the wall for about 3 yrs and were installed by our electrician. I decided it’ll be worth testing the bell boxes to confirm they are working as expected. The rear box is working, connected to 12v psu I get slow alternate flashing LEDs. I can then operate the strobe and sounder by grounding the appropriate wire. The front bell box however is not working. When connected to 12volts the sounder goes off for ~5secs and the left hand led flashes. Looking at the instructions this indicates a tamper fault. However if I measure the resistance between the tamper…

Hi I’m about to start wiring my panel this weekend. The 12 zones on board are not going to be sufficient. I have therefore ordered a Rio 072 and a wireless c079-2 modules to expand the zone count. I am planning to use 17 wired zones and 2 wireless zones. I presume this will be possible as I am below the maximum 20 zone count. My panel is running v1.5 of the firmware. I am also planning to add the hardware to enable me to use the SelfMon app in the future. Any advice on the compatibility of the above with my system greatly appreciated

Hi guys, I've just bought a new home with an ADT alarm system, I don't think the alarm is active, I don't have the code and the alarm doesn't do very much other than some blinking lights on a box in the study, I have had to switch the main power off a couple of times and the alarm doesn't do anything, so I'm assuming the alarm isn't active in any capacity? There looks to be a panic button in the master bedroom which I just want to pull off the wall but am worried what will happen, I don't want the alarm to go off because I don't have the code. Any chance this will happen? Thanks, Andy

  8. Hi, I have a very old Optima 2 Plus alarm system which for my sins i have decided to get working again after many years of inactivity. The system was installed in 1995 I believe - we moved in some years after. Anyway have now got most of tye system working again having made sure all PIR's are working and access / exit points are all fine. However the external bell box / strobe is not working - it's as old as the alarm itself. so the question is can i source a like for like replacement / repair tye existing unit (not that i know how to) Best Regards Mike

I have been reading reviews on the App Store for Texecom’s connect app and they all seem to say it’s dated and rarely gets updated. I have read a few posts on here about companies who don’t change are bound to not develop the app. Would it be better to go with something like a Pyronix and pay a yearly subscription? I am basically looking to upgrade a current wired alarm to allow notifications. App control and possible add a wireless door sensor. I am tempted to try and DIY install the Pyronix Euro 46 as this seems to have better app reviews and seems to get mentioned a lot on the forums. I would consider a professional install but don’t want to spend a…

We have had a Karizma plus alarm for about 16 years & never had any issues. Had the conservatory replaced with a room before Xmas and the PIR has just showed tamper fault and won't reset. Engineer came today hasn't seen this alarm system before so although we have the engineer code he couldn't find how to clear it after he had fixed a loose wire in the PIR. Can anyone guide us through it? Or recommend cheapest way to fix, new control panel etc. Moving on Friday!

Hi all, i have a SD1+ fitted and has been working fine until I’ve changed the phone numbers and messages. During the test phase all registered phones ring and messages get played out, but the phone won’t ring when the alarm is triggered? Has anyone experience this issue before and managed to resolve it any advice I would be grateful.

  12. I’m a retired EE who (years ago) purchased a complete DSC system from a distributor in Louisville KY. I installed it myself in my mountain home in central WV. Programmed it myself using the DSC PC-Link cable. It’s still running trouble free but now I’m getting old and slow so I need to increase the entry and exit times. I found the DSC cable and CD and set up the software on a laptop - the original laptop died some years ago so I don’t have the original programming that’s in the panel. I intended to simply read the setup from the PC5010, make a few changes and write it back... I now find that when I hit *8 to enter installer mode, the keypad says that feature i…

Hi all, I have an Omega Petite system (which I think was made by Castle Care Tech) and I know very little about alarms. I was wondering if someone could tell me how old it is? Also, whenever there's a power cut, the control panel shuts down and the alarm itself proceeds to go off until the power comes back on (people before us didn't think to put a twenty minute maximum on it) and when it does, the panel bleeps endlessly until the code is put in. I was hoping someone would be able to tell me a way to shut the noise off when there is no power to the control panel. Also, any other information would be gratefully received (even…

  14. We are a school who need to develop a "lockdown" protocol in the event of an intruder on site. We have two buildings, close together, each of two floors, so sending messages verbally and crossing between buildings takes an inordinate amount of time. In theory, with a powerful enough wireless transmitter, and probably some wireless extension relays, a simple alarm/doorbell system would do the trick. Wireless sirens are available at <£20, doorbell chimes even less. The technology seems to exist (ie multiple sensors feeding one alarm) but we want to reverse this. Commercial/wired solutions cost a silly amount of money. Can anyone suggest how to dev…

Morning all, Can someone advise, I am looking for an intruder alarm that can be armed disarmed on a daily schedule, i.e arm at 10.30pm and disarm at 8.00am, is there anything other than a smart alarm?
