We currently install Texecom Premier for wired and Visonic for wirefree (only if we really have to and on domestics only). I am seriously considering including Castle Caretech/Pyronix to our range as I fancy a change. I have bench tested the new Enforcer wireless and so far so good. Never worked with any of the wired stuff however. How do you guys rate it ?

hi guys, just wondering how other engineers test break glass detectors, ive found it to be a right pain in the **** trying to get them to get open circult, i usaully dangle keys, which works but doesnt look very proffesional. there must be a easier way of doing it. Masterblasters do set them off, because i had a job that anytime the customer had a false alarm the masterblaster would activate all the break glasses causing a confirmed signal, obviously i wont be testing with a masterblaster,,, how do you test them

I can't remember if I changed the alarm code that the previous owner gave me to something else. I have a vague feeling I might have and what it might be, but can't be sure. Now I'm scared to try either the original number or the one I think I might have changed it to in case I'm wrong on both counts. If they are wrong and the alarm goes off I won't know how to switch it off. I'm wondering if there's a way to check by trying to reset it? If I follow the instructions to re set it and put in the code I think it is, will it give me some indication if it is wrong, ie, stop me proceeding, or the lights not showing etc, so that I know it is wrong, rather than just set it and h…

hi all hope you are all well. i am in the process of installing a galaxy dimension and come across a prob when i tryed to get the control panel to find the other rio's on the network. the panel is showing that the rio's are not there on the rs485 network. i have used cat5 to link them as i was told this was ok by a honeywell trainer/rep. I have used 1 pair for the date A/B and used basic alarm cable for the + and - and i have fitted the resistor at the end of the network and set the rio's addresss from 0,1,2,3. i have had the main panel powered down afew times to get it to scan the network for anything new but the panel after startup still shows nothing other than the …

An outstanding problem on my Gardtec 595 panel. History RKP was locking up on set as a fire zone has no area assigned to it. Power cycle and reassigning zone to Area1 sorted this but when trying to set the system am getting a Tamper on this zone and says I cant set (Error reads SMOKE HALL T!) I have tried clearing the tamper in usual way to no avail (tampers are set to any code reset). Could the original RKP lock out problem have caused another problem, is there something different to do to clear a fire sensor indocated tamper?? My ideas - wiring should be fine as has not been touched, thought about removing power to the sensor and see if this clears it Any other br…

Hi Guys, little problem you may have an answer to. Have a customer with an ADT Excelsior to control 2 doors for general entry with an entry panel for 42 offices where one of the doors can be opened from an office using hardwired phone. The ADT alarm can be triggered from a door opening when alarm armed. The system is still under ADT but servicing could be considered lax as the entry panel has problems, is difficult for the client/visitors to operate and the back-up battery was last replaced in 2000!! Client would like me to take it over/replace. ADT support centre does not give the opportunity to have a chat with an engineer to see if the faults can be simply rectifi…

Chance of a great easy job! I have a vacancy for an experienced engineer, must be competent to work on their own and use their own initiative to complete jobs. The type of work is faults, repairs and servicing. We very rarely take on any installation work as a rule. The work will mainly be in Manchester city centre, you will be required to work on all manufacturers of intercoms, access and cctv. Please do NOT apply if you a lazy excuse making no good bum who just wants to be a chancer and waste my time and money. I have all the time in the world for a real man who can make decisions and over come problems when they arise, I have no time in the world for what I call Fit…
