Dear all, Have just installed a the above unit, gone into engineer prog mode (like the manual says). Keyed in zero to commence walk test and then the unit makes an intermittent beeping sound, with all 8 LEDs glowing. Something is not right here as the manual indicates that the 8 LEDs should be off and would come on when one walks in front of the respective PIR unit. Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem. Many thanks RicherT

  3. Apologies if this is the wrong forum for my post: I moved into my current property about 4.5 years ago with an Ademco Accord alarm already installed. We don;t use the alarm much, save for when we're away from the house on holidays etc. Now I think it's had it... Images of Alarm for identification purposes: Yesterday, the alarm went off for no apparent reason (only the smoke detector active but no smoke etc) and so I went down and deactivated it. Woke up this morning hearing an internittent muted wailing from outside. Discovered 20mins later, it was our bell making that noise (not as loud as it usually is). Went downstairs - keypad had absolutely no illumina…

  4. I am working with a Pyronix KX15DT unit and want to understand its workings. There are 6 terminals - 2 for power, 2 for alarm and 2 for tamper. Am I correct in assuming that behind the tamper connection is simply a closed relay point which opens when the unit is opened? i.e. normally closed Am I correct in assuming that behind the alarm connections is a normally closed relay point which opens when the unit detects movement? hi there i have got a galaxy 2-12 fitted in my house. got it installed privatly. the installer gave us the manager code once when the system required a manager reset. but last night we had a power cut and the alarm was not activated and wen i went to activate it once the lights come back on the display showed alert enter code. so i entered my user code and looked at the fault and it was ac cu 002 or something like that. i pressed enter and it asked for a manager reset. i have got the 6 digit code but i dont know how, when and where to enter it. i tried calling the installer last night but he is gone to turkey for 4 weeks. and i need the alarm to work for tonight. can anyo…

  6. Hello! I'm not sure where to request this, but could someone tell me if they could supply (at cost, of course) the serial connector for the Gardtec dialler? (as taken from latest product guide): 04070 Serial Cable for direct connection of 04069 Speech Dialler to 800 series

Hi, I'm new to this forum and would welcome your help... We have a Gardtec 300 series alarm, with the bell/alarm box outside our front door - so far so good. However, we are currently building a porch which means I need to move the box by about 2 inches.. If I unscrew the box lid to see if there is sufficient cable to simply move it, will the alarm go off? If so, is there anything I can do? Or do I need an engineer? I'm hoping to find that I don't need any rewiring, just a simple reposition of the box.. Any thoughts? Thanks!

All I am trying to plan the installation of magnetic contacts on my windows and doors. I have read that many of the cheap magnetic contacts are not great and should be avoided. I can also understand that they are at times exposed to the elements. In light of this I have decided to fit Elmdene magnetic contacts that are rated to Grade III Environmental. I have one simple issues. The contacts that I am looking at are cabled ie They come with 1m of cable already attached. This gives me a problem - I don't what to have many junction boxes around the house. So what is the correct method of joining the cable. The house is being renovated so the cable will be sunk into the …

  9. I am installing a PIR in a remote room using an existing cable. The cable is only 4 core and really difficult to re-lay. The PIR is a Pyronix KX15DT. I could use one pair for power and one for the alarm. And ignore the tamper circuit and live with the risk. OR...and this is the complicated bit! The instructions/diagram that come with the PIR show a wiring setup like this: Two wires to supply power. And two wires connected as follows: One wire from the panel Zone to alarm termiinal 1 on the PIR. An internal resistor from that terminal to alarm terminal 2. Another internal resistor from alarm terminal 2 to tamper terminal 1. And then a return wire from tamper te…

I had planned to install a single keypad inside the front door. Normal place I think. Some friends have suggested I should also put in a second keypad - in the main bedroom upstairs. Is this a 'norma' / 'typical' thing to do in a domestic installation? - Four bedroom, two storey residence. Obvious advantage is that one can 'alarm' the whole house while sleeping. Disadvantage is stumbling out to the loo at 4am and forgetting to disarm the damn thing. Any views appreciated please. Ken.

Ok - I couldn't quite summerise the topic but here goes. If you have a contact on the Entry zone and also a PIR above the entry point - could a panel (e.g. a GardTec 872) be programmed so that when the door is opened the PIR above the door changes from immediate to delayed alarm? I ask this because I want to place a RKP near the rear door. The ideal place to put this is just in the kitchen where there is a PIR. Ideally, it would be great if when you opened the rear door thus breaking the mag contact then this is an authorised entry route and the alarm starts countdown and moving into the kitchen to disable the alarm via the RKP won't set off the immediate PIR in the kit…

  13. Hi, I decided to change the entry / exit times on my Honeywell system. Dont know what I did but for some reson it is no longer recognising the Keytags (Ihave two of them). I have followed the user instructions for programming a keytag to each user which is:- Master code > 8 (code) > user number (1-8) > wait for double beep > present tag. When I do this I dont get a double beep, the panel simply wants me to enter a new 4 digit code. Are the instructions for adding a keytag wrong?? Any help would be great Steve.

  15. Relax, I am not about to ask about actual codes But I do want to discuss the following 'theoretical' situation: I engage a professional company to install, maintain and monitor an alarm system for my home. I pay for all the equipment and therefore feel that I own it. I pay a monthly maintenance and monitoring contract. After some period of time I become dissatisfied with their service. I discontinue their contract. I ask them to provide me with the engineer code for my panel. There are (I think) two possible situations: If my code is unique then I feel they should tell it to me. If they use the same engineer code for several customers then of course they will …
