After a bit of advice from the shrewdies on here please. My mum has the above intruder alarm and (somehow) she dropped her walking stick and it landed plum on the panic alarm in her bedroom setting it off. Now, on the alarm console there is a light for attack and it's completely unresponsive. I've turned the electric off but there's a huge battery pack connected. I do get a response when I open it for tamper, but when I put the code in and then reset it goes back to attack/dead mode. Wondering how I can reset it really. Is there a wire to disconnect in the battery to kill it. Also on the panic button, is there an issue in disconnecting …

  2. I looked at a cheap DVR and found some really quite serious issues. If you port-forward to this, an attacker - and not a skilled one - can take complete control of the device and do what they want on your network. https://www.pentestpartners.com/blog/pwning-cctv-cameras/ I wouldn't trust any DVR to be honest. Expect more like this in the near future.

I've 2 Intelex DVMS from ebay Got it with no manuals or documentation. From scouting about on the net I've found the default admin pin code is 1234. On this system, the code only lets you into basic functions (viewing cameras, viewing recordings and burning recordings to CD). Does anyone know how to reset the real admin pincode without me sitting entering all the combinations from 0000 to 9999? Thanks bill.

  6. I'm a retired electrician with broad IT network experience. Looking to install a domestic system that has ability to handle both wireless and wired sensors. It must also have ethernet connectivity ( ie inbuilt web server ) so that it can:- a) Issue email alerts b) Provide video streaming from camera sensors. If it has an internal relay that can switch an electrical circuit ( eg a room light) when it is set, that would be a bonus. Initial research indicates that the Texecom Premiere Elite might do this with additional modeules but I was wondering what other suggestions you all may have.

Hi all I'm getting more and more people asking for quotes to fit a Yale system that they have already purchased. I have convinced a few to take it back and have a decent installation for not too much more, but it really winds me up when people buy the so called DIY kits, then ask a security professional to fit it! I must admit, the majority of these come from sites such as ratedpeople and mybuilder, so I suppose it's expected, but there are a few calls with the same query. I can only image this is the same as popping into a Gordon Ramsey restaurant and saying 'oh, if you don't mind I've bought my own grub, could you stick it in the microwave …

Hi everyone, First time I've posted so not really sure what I'm doing. I have a galaxy 2-44 that I fitted about two years ago. It's been no trouble up until about a month ago when user said that when he set it, it told him that RIO102 was missing. He bypassed it to set the alarm. By the time I got to have a look at at, everything was fine. I checked the cables, voltage, zone resistance etc but I could find nothing wrong. Last week it dropped out in the middle of the night and the dialler called the key holder. Again, no fault could be found when I looked at it. Last night it dropped out 3 times. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what could be cau…
