Hi, I have a Veritas 8 control pannel fitted with an old //.National Installer.// sab(bell type) box and also an A1 bell box. I would like to replace the A1 box, so have purchased a brand new //.National Installer.// sab box(twin siren type) It is made by Elmdene and is a 7422-EN grade three siren. I'm just a wee bit stumped with the wiring to the Veritas 8, so maybe someone could help? In the Veritas control pannel I have the following wiring ports: S D C B A -L +S -AUX +AUX SW+ Zones 1-8 T R In the //.National Installer.// box, the wiring ports are: H- H+ BAT- FAULT REM TEST ENG TR TS R- ST- So how would I wire it in?? Anyone have any experience of this home monitoring service? The software is now being sold by Gardiner Security. In particular, camera images transmitted to the users mobile phone (needs broadband but a PC in the house is not essential).

I have just had a call (premium rate) from a Dr. with one of those Asian names. This guy moved into a property where we used to maintain the alarm until about five years ago. Anyway he has had a mains fail and he cant turn the alarm off, apparently the DIY guy next door has opened the box tying to help and some one hour latter the thing is still screaming away. As our regular members will know we have a policy of refusing to work on systems not under contract and therefore declined him any assistance, he pleaded so strongly I said I would be prepared to offer the job over to an engineer for direct payment to the engineer and asked how much he would offer to pay the engine…

Hi !guys just got back from one day British Safety council training course to officially qualify me and a collegue as "competant" writers of risk assessments. Reason we did it was due to the grey area surrounding the use of the word "competant" to carry out the task so we wanted a training course which would give accepted accreditation for the task. The course we chose was "level 2 certificate in risk assessment" and is recognised by the HSE,and run by the "BRITISH SAFETY COUNCIL",this gives us a qualification certificate to confirm having been on the training course and satisfied the instructors that we have shown ourselves to be competant in the task!. It was held at…

Following comments from members of this forum, we now have a new main telephone number that allows calls in at a lower rate. It is 0845 838 1716 The old 0870 number will continue to work, but the new one will be publicised from now on.

I cannot believe how many 'newbies' join this great forum firstly reading site terms & conditions to gain access, then to ask: "I turned my mains off the other day and now my alarm won't work properly" As this site is accessible to read (the Public Forums), surely when you read a reply to the above question before registering to post, and poor old 'trade member' & 'trade member' (who must be fed up to the back teeth) quoting: "Your battery is dead, it needs a new one, maybe the charging cct has had it" does it stop and make you think? and why do people read the terms and conditions, and then ask for the eng manual for their system? Rant over

  10. Hi everyone I am new to the forum so hi to all. I have posted this question in the " Inspectorates " section but I thought I would post it here also as it seems like there is more traffic here. Can anyone advise me, as an NSI NACOSS company, when taking over an existing Intruder alarm system does the premises have to be Risk assessed and Graded or can it be taken over to BS 4737 DD243 : 2004 ?? Thanks for any advice. Regards clivesorts

I'm currently studying a C&G in Alarm Installation (and absolutely loving it) and I'm due to finish June this year. I have made the decision to continue my education for another few years, but I'm unsure as to which direction would be best for an Alarm Engineer / Security role. I notice alot of posters on here cover Fire Security, would it be more beneficial to study that next year, or my sparky course? Also, is anyone aware of any places in the West Mids that do the Level 3 C&G in Alarm Installation? Thanks in advance, Trim

Hello All, Im working on an old install (i say old, i mean, onefrom a few years ago and its new to me). Its a galaxy 60 Quite a good install.. 2 RIOs.. vipers, panic buttons, Dual techs, comms module, smart psu. Well the system was basically off, the wires were all not connected. So i set out tracing the wires and detectors.. quite amusing to turn around and find a detector you didnt know existed. Well, ill get to the point; ive got a few wires in the panel that are 'spare'.. i was told my previous neighbours that there was a horn type noice that used to sound when the alarm was going off on the back of the building. So i started wondering if the spare wires could…
