This guy moved into a property where we used to maintain the alarm until about five years ago. Anyway he has had a mains fail and he cant turn the alarm off, apparently the DIY guy next door has opened the box tying to help and some one hour latter the thing is still screaming away. As our regular members will know we have a policy of refusing to work on systems not under contract and therefore declined him any assistance, he pleaded so strongly I said I would be prepared to offer the job over to an engineer for direct payment to the engineer and asked how much he would offer to pay the engineer.
