Does anyone know of a US-based forum/message board similar to this one? (Already searched with google for a long time.) Are there any other US members on this message board besides myself? Dan

Hi all I'm new to this forum, so please be gentle. B) I would like some advise on which home intruder system I should get installed to my property via a Nascoss approved installer. I've been scanning through some of the treads on this site, names of manufactures such as Menvier, Scantronics, Gurdtec and Texecom. Which is the best to go for? , in terms of build quality, reliability and most up to date technology. I've done all the main wiring for the PIR and control panels. I would like to set up the system as follows: PIR's: Downstairs hallway Sitting room Back room Kitchen Upstairs hallway Bed 1 Bed 2 Bed 3 Control Panel: Down Stairs Hallway Up Stair…

I had a system installed 16 years ago and it has given excellent service. All detectors are dual tech. We had a new ceiling in kitchen and since then the sensor in kitchen is shown as LID TAMPER ERROR. I have even stuck the tamper switch down but there is no change. I have removed all wires leading to sensor but it is still reporting the same error and will not let me reset the system saying SYSTEM CANNOT BE RESET. Any help/advice greatfully received. I don't mind if the tamper on the detector does not work. TIA FoggyDC

I would be interested to hear from any sole traders or small businesses covering the southern portion of England. Say from London down to Sussex, Kent down to the Plymouth area. This is with a possible view to mutual assistance, perhaps offering the smaller guys a chance to offer 24 hour callout, or covering for each other during spells in the sun. Other alternatives may be assisting on a large job or similar. The other possibilities could be assisting each other through the approval process, however I would appreciate any small companies who are currently approved and who could help offering callout cover (which seems to be a main sticking point for us smaller firms t…

Just been replacing an ADE Logic 4 installed by my dear old dad (no longer with us, otherwise i'd have f***ing murdered him when i saw what he'd done one installing this system). Where do I start... 1) No system backup battery, instead there was a big-ass capacitor on the battery terminals. 2) All the zones were wired on the Entry/Exit zone. 3) An interesting mixture of 4 core alarm flex, bellwire and 4 core phone cable. Lovely. 4) A very strange bit of wiring on one of the PIR's, up under the bath I discovered (upon tracing the cable) an small box, containing a 555-timer circuit wired to a bell-push (which i'd always wondered what was for) on the landing. It seems t…

I rarely post in this part of the forums but this may cause some to consider the benifits our industrys offers. I was duty engineer last night. And about half past midnight I got a call from a guy who said he had one of our alarm systems. I asked for the contract ref but nothing came up. So I asked was he sure he was a contract customer.

I'm currently studying a C&G in Alarm Installation, and really want to get into the industry as soon as possible, but I'm somewhat concerned. I'm on a fairly good wage for the work I do at the minute, and the only opening I've seen at the minute is working as a trainee on minimum wage I don't mind working for minimum wage for a maximum of 12 months, but do many companys guarentee work, and is the increase in wages much after 12 months if you stay within the same company??? I don't want to work 12 months on
