Hi all. My Brother in law is having his new Bungalow alarmed by ADT soon. Their solution for him includes a shock sensor attached to some wide double glazing. Bro-in-law say's they say the one shock sensor will cover all the windows and the pair of central doors. The windows are about 0.5 mtr window then door then door then 0.5 mtr window. End to end the expanse is about 3.5 mtrs.( wide doors for disabled access). Would the shock of opening, prying or smashing a double glazed panel register on a single shock sensor mounted at one end? I'm not second guessing the ADT guy, I'm interested if this is an effective way of protecting my double glazed doors. Thanks. Pa…

  2. Hello all, I'm trying to connect a cooper M12 smoke/optical detector to a scantronic 9751 panel, but a little confused. Im using FSL wiring throughout, and have wired all IR detectors using EOL Resistors. But when I came to the smoke detector,I have wired the smoke detector in a same way as I have wired a PIR. Smoke Alarm Terminal 1 - +12v 2 - -12v 3 & 4 - 4k7 Resistor across these terminals E - 2k2 Resistor wired in series between terminal 4 & E Is this correct? What I can't seem to understand is there is no tamper switch on the sensor, only one terminal, so there will not be an open circuit whenever the cover is removed. Does t…

After several hours of reading trough these forums I have finally arrived to some conclusions. I am no expert in the subject but I was initially comparing honeywell G2 and Texecom Premier but due to price and installation, I seem to be more in favour of the Premier. This is a new house which is prewired with 6-core from the control panel location to the PIR and key pads. If necessary I can change the wiring but ideally, I stick to the 6-core. I am based in Malta so some UK sevices/options are not available. I am thinking of getting the following: Control Panel - Premier 48 (could also get the 24 but price is not that different) LCD KeyPads - DBA-0001 x 3 PIR Du…

Hi there, I have a texecom premier 48 system that I installed about 3 years ago, last night I had 2 pirs fault out at exactly the same time, they are on separate zones and are in different parts of the house. Its asking for system reset but won't reset, both detectors seems to be working (no faults on them now). Detector fault zone 5 and zone 1 (area needs reset A). Can pirs be effected by temperature? it just seems strange that both faulted out at the same time when there completely separate so I'm thinking it could be a fault in the main unit? Any help appreciated, also if anyone can recommend a texecom/specialist engineer based in the midlands?

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to find an internal detector/PIR that has a 180 degree range. Because of the irregular shape of the room I cannot put a PIR in the corner so am looking for a detector that can be put in the middle of a wall which can detect intruders both to the left and the right. All of the detectors I can find are around the 90 degree range. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Hello everyone, Excuse me if I don't sound very techinical, I haven't done anything like this before. What I need to know is how to set a new level code (is this right?). Under A on the control panel, all of the house is protected. We press B when we go to bed so only actvity downstairs is detected.. Basically I want to have another option which excludes my lounge only as we are planning on getting cats and will lock them in here during the day. Reading that back it doesn't make much sense, I hope someone can help. Thanks

Hi, my name is Nick I would at a store where we use a standard 16ch 320g intellex and we are having problems with it shutting down, restarting(& hibernating?), I'm thinking due to overheating. When looking into it read about needing the exit to windows pin, which i figured with this maybe i could check to make sure the drivers and temps and all that are good on the unit. If someone could PLEASE PM ME I would highly APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU!

  10. Hi all. sorry to bother you late on a Sunday, but i have an issue that i'm hoping you can help with. I have a powermax+ alarm and a novagard6 external sounder with strobe. The alarm has been in place for a week now, and im slowly adding more sensors, but it seems to work very well. I only added the external sounder today but now i've run into a problem with it. Upon arming and disarming via the keyPAD, everything is fine. But, if i use the keyFOB, the external sounder sounds (quite loudly, only the external sounder though, not the internal one) for about a second when ever i arm and disarm the system, which is going to annoy my neighbours no end, and probably result in…

Hi, I'm an electrician and doing some work for a customer that involved removing power to their alarm system. The system is a Manvier ts 900 and had a flat battery. I have changed this but now need to reset the system. The system is out of contract with Chubb and requires a 'seed code' to reset the alarm so it can be used following the installation of a new battery. Is it possible to get the 'seed' code without getting a new contract with chubb? Any help would be much appriciated.

  12. Hi Guys, I'm about to start installing a Texecom Premier 48 panel with Texecom DT's. I know it shouldn't be done but I may have to run the PIR and RKP cables parallel to some mains wiring. Has anyone any experience of this situation and if so the recommended distance between the two sets of cables to avoid false alarms. I have around 4" between the mains cables and any alarm cables. If it's a definate no-no then I'll have to use screened cables but I'd rather not if at all possible. Thanks in advance for any help. Graham

Hi, I would like to set up the simple part arm feature of my Texecom Premier 48 panel. The manual states that "Your Installer may have programmed the systemso that it can be part armed by just pressing [1] followed by [Part]" this does not appear to have been programmed in. Does anyone know how to enable this feature? Thanks.

  14. Started by TheMiddle,

Hi, I've just finished the wiring on my new house and have a second hand (not used as far as i know) Avanti Xp panel in steel box, also with a RKP proximity sensor. The electrics are in and connected so i thought i'd wire in the RKP and pop the fuse in to make sure it all works. I have the engineer manual and also the manual for the RKP but when i enter the engineer code from the instructions i get a "Cannot enter now.." message on the RKP - Bit strange because it's not like a "wrong code" message so not sure what that means? As far as i can tell all the tamper springs are closed and the tamper wiring complete. Any help please!?

Hi all, First post, so go easy I installed an ADE Gen4 panel with remote LCD keypad, together with ADE detectors, bell & internal sounder. The system seemed to be working fine with everything operating as expected. However I was called back to it after the alarm went off for no reason, several times. When I looked at the system, all looked OK except the time & date on the keypad had reverted to factory settings (01-01-06 Sun 00:00 if I remember correctly). I have checked through the whole system & there appears to be no obvious faults. I have managed to re-create the same fault - I have done this by dropping the mains supply, when mains is restored the…
