I have successfully connected the Texecom Premier 48 with the texecom speech dialler. I have read somewhere that you can switch on and off the alarm remotely by phoning the dialler. I managed to connect to the dialler on the phone but cannot figure out how to enable or disable the alarm on/off through the dialler. I think it is related to the programmable outputs: 6 Remote Ctrl 1: This output type can be remotely turned on and off by a touchtone telephone. 7 Remote Ctrl 2: This output type can be remotely turned on and off by a touchtone telephone. But... to what do I need to connect these (on the panel side)? I cannot find anything which switches on/off at the panel…

Hi, I bought a Texecom Premier and LCD Keypad and had an electrician fit it. When I came to program it it says zones 1-8 Tamper but 9 onwards are secure. It's a simple system, I only have 2 doors with contacts and 4 windows with vibration sensors, no PIR's or anything else. The electricianis back tomorrow for some other bits so I was hoping people could tell me what it is likely to be so I can get him to double check everything. The vibration sensors are Texecom too and they seem to be OK, they flash green every few seconds and when I bang on the window they go red for a few seconds. I've set the chime to be on and when I bang the windows the chime doesn't go off. I…

Looking to wire a second bell box at the back of the house into a galaxy dimension, but to save on cable run tried to wire it into a rio which is only a few feet away. The bell box is a texecom oddysey 3e. I have worked everything out except where to put the resistor on the tamper circuit. Tried putting the return from the bell box tamp connection to the panel through a 1k resistor but keep getting a high reisistance reading, the only way i could get it to work was to take the tamper return from one side of the microswitch through a 1k resistor back to the panel bypassing the tamp connection on the bell box pcb. Is this ok or is there a better way to do it ?

Hi 1st post, great forum by the way, very informative! I currently have a wired alarm (Texecom veritas R8 i think) and want to extend this to a new extension we've had done, but the old wires to the back of the house got ripped out by the builders. Haing looked around i've decided to go for the scantronic hybrid alarms 9751 or 9752, so i can use the existing wires for some parts and add a radio expander for the detectors in the new extension, without ruining the brand new decoration! Firstly does this sound like a reasonably solution? (I know it's not the cheapest solution but its the easiest I can see) And if so what is the difference between the 9751 & 9752, i k…

Hi, I have a Scantronic 9651 fitted to my house and at the moment it is setup so the keypad backlight only comes on when a button is pressed. I want to change this so that the backlight is on all the time. From the installer manual i can see that this is achieved by fitting a jumper across the 'BACKLIGHT ON' pins. However, it doesn't make it clear whether this needs to be done within the control box, or inside the keypad itself. Does anyone know? Also, what issues am i likely to run into if i take the cover off the control panel and/or keypad to do this? Any advise appreciated.

Hi there, Installed a Texecom 48 a good 5 years ago, and its been working a treat. Only problem I had was with the smoke detectors, I installed Texecom units, but have had a series of false alarm on them over the years I did some research last year on what seemed to be a very good unit, I think it was configurable between various heat rise settings etc, but for the life of me I cant remmber the make. So, question is what's the best smoke/heat rise detector I can use with my panel. , Steve

Help!! We've specified a white noise generator on a quote i've put together, however, the only item i can find which remotely comes close to it is this badboy: http://klaxonsignals.com/productDetails.as...p;categoryID=50 But I wondered if anyone out there had any further suggestions for something which would be equal in terms of that disorientating / white noise style? it needs to be "effing loud" (quoted from the customer!) fella's, Jonathan.

Hi, I've got a visonic powermax+ alarm system installed and now want to fit a wired external bell box. The present one has stopped working and I'm sure its the wireless part inside it thats packed in so it won't "talk" to the main panel anymore. Want to go wired to so i don't need to keep replaceing battery in it, wired is going to be cheaper, and looks like a better option re maintenance etc. So do you guys have any opinions on a good external siren ? what are you fitting for your customers ? can get hold of a honeywell ag8 or an ag3 locally, any opionins on these sirens ?? also considerd butchering the siren thats not working but as thats a mcs-710 and runs at 3.6v i…

Hi My Son and Daughter have just bought an old house to renovate, it will be empty for around 1 year whilst we carry out the work, we will have to leave tools and other equipment there so we thought it would be as well to install an alarm just for the visual deterrent value so we fitted a Veritas 8 with a Oddysey alarm box. At this moment in time we have only fitted the control panel, key pad, alarm box and a door contact as the whole house is being gutted and rewired. It has been fitted about 6 weeks with no problem but on setting it and leaving the house tonight I noticed that the strobe flashed in the alarm box about 7 times (no alarm sounded) and then stopp…

Hi All, I wondered if I might ask for some expert advice. I have an alarm system which is now about 17 yrs old, (under contract and regularly serviced.) It has a Scantronic 9800 end station and remote keypad. Over the last few months some of the keypad buttons have become very unresponsive, ( especially if the house has been empty and the temperature has dropped) and this has resulted in a couple of hair raising moments where the alarm has gone off since it hasn't been possible to enter the code quickly enough on entering the house. The engineer cleaned the keypad circuit strips and this helped for a while, but it has begun to play up again. I have changed the code to bu…

Hi there, hope you can help. We moved into our home about 6 years ago and the house had a securit 700L fitted which wasn't working.. The batteries had rotted and they had cut the cable in the attic to kill it, along with disconnecting the mains. Anyway, i fixed the unit and it worked great but we've not been able to set it due to having a dog in the house all the while that triggered the sensors. The dog is no longer with us and we want to start setting the alarm but it now errors when trying to set it.. The keypad doesn't stop beeping alarm with internal siren unit elsewhere in the house. The only light displayed is zone 1, but I think that all the sensors as they're…
