January 14, 201115 yr comment_266086 All I need some help and advice on the choice of PIRs. I am fitting PIRs in 3 rooms. Entrance Hall - No issues here. Standard room Lounge - Largish room 7m * 7m and the PIR will be sort of facing the windows on the other side of the room. Kitchen - Large room 7m * 10m and containing an Aga, so constant heat source. Looking for any guidance on PIRs. Anything I would watch out for? Been looking at Texecom Prestige and FX50SQ Ben Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/30682-advise-on-choice-of-pir-needed/ Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 January 14, 201115 yr comment_266098 1, Entrance hall. Watch out for letters/items coming in the letterbox. 2, Lounge should be okay. 3, Kitchen, would rather see a Dual Tech, or a quad pir. Try not to have it looking at the Aga. Although a constant it can chuck off heat at times. Texe Prestige are decent kit. Use the DT for the kitchen. Any pets, other than that you seem to have it reasonably covered. January 14, 201115 yr comment_266108 As Oxo basically, I usually fit quads as norm in all rooms though, DT in kitchen or conservatory-QFA prestige is my choice. January 14, 201115 yr comment_266130 With the AGA as with live open gas fires, important ti close windows tight to prevent drafts causing problems. I to would go with quads all through, for what difference they cost tbh, just read the bumf about proper locations before running cables. January 15, 201115 yr comment_266167 As above, I can recommend the Optex FX50SQ PIR, they are very good. Fitting Quad PIR's thoughout is better. Dual tech would be recommended for the kitchen (maybe MX40QZ?) Try to position your sensors so they point away from heat sources (AGA or Fireplace). Most equipment comes with instructions on where to locate sensors to reduce false alarms, worth a read first.
