Apologies in this is common request, but i'm after a bit of advice for a wireless home alarm system. I've done a fair bit of reading/research and decided on either a Pyronix Enforcer V10 or a Texecom Premier Elite system. Both systems seem to offer what I want, the starter kits seem pretty good and would only need to purchase a few extra bits to get me up and running with either. Main requirements are for a system with 3/4 PIRs, 1/2 door contacts, bell, control box, keypad etc... My main concerns around the systems are, Pyronix: - The keypad is on the control box, I think I would prefer a seperate keypad so I can have the control box hidden away Texecom: …

  3. Hello all, I'm just designing a new Texecom Premier Elite (24 or 48) to replace an old disconnected alarm, plus lot of new cabling for an extension and replacing all PIRs, keypad and sounders. Currently the central point most cables come into is a hot boiler cupboard which I'd rather not install the new panel. Could I put 1 or 2 Premier 8XP expanders in this cupboard, wired to most of the zones, and then just cable these expanders to the control panel sited in a more sensible place? It'll be easier to run a single/2 cable to a new cupboard in extension from the expanders. Any issues with have virtually no main zones wired direct to the control…

Good evening, I installed my first ion 16 a few years ago for a friend, easy panel to install 8 zones all wirless. Now fast forward to now, my friend wants another contact installed on his new pation doors, easy i thought? 4hrs and 2 visits in for the life of me I cant get this new contact on the system. Programmed on to zone 9 (next zone) no issues originally learned as normal with lid tamper and then when I tried to come out if engineers mode it said tamper zone 9, now this wasnt the case as tamper looped out on board and I am now making the spring and back tamper with my fingers pressing them, so after numerous fails i deleted…

I'm adding a PC5208 Low Current Output Module Expander to my PC1832 Panel for the purpose of triggering an auto-dialer's inputs. My smokes are programed as 07 - 'Delayed 24 Hour Fire' . I'd like to program one of the outputs on the PC5208 to activate when a only a fire alarm occurs - that's easy by assigning PGM option 10 'Latched System Event' and further defining that event as "Fire Event Only' BUT I'd like the output not to activate until the 30 second communication delay (as defined in the Delayed 24 Hour Fire assignment) or the lack of acknowledgement (*72) has elapsed. Any ideas very welcome. Thanks

Hello, I have a zone on a RIO with high resistance being randomly reported. I've omitted the zone for the time being, but what's the most likely issue in your opinions? It's on a standard RIO, but the fact that it happens randomly, i.e. one moment all is fine, the next it is not, makes me think the problem may lie with the RIO?

  9. bit of a mad one.... ....what I require is that when the communal intercom is called from downstairs at the main entrance to a block of flats, the intercom rings in the flat, my father who has parkinsons needs a solution to be able to answer the intercom and release the door without rushing and falling over. Heres the problem, when the intercom rings he struggles to get to the door in time if its somebody who isn't aware of his condition. I need a solution to have some type of set up whereby, when the intercom is activated that another device can pick up the signal and via WiFi he can be able to make the person aware that he is in and release the …

Hi I've had to do a full NVM clear and re-program on an old Karizma+ system this morning, and it lives to fight another day. I have a couple of questions please: 1 - I want to think through replacing this panel as I'm under no illusions that its on borrowed time. A rewire with conventional wiring would be a bit messy - and I'm tempted to consider keeping iD wiring, hence any suggestions for current panels that can reuse the iD wiring? Current wiring is two long daisy chain runs. Roughly 15 PIR, 3 pairs of magnetic contacts, 2 external bell boxes, 1 keypad. (I've never fitted wireless and would prefer that this particular place wasn't the first). 2 - in th…

  11. Hi all I have fitted a few Honeywell systems fitted in the past without major issues but am now looking at a Galaxy Flex 20 for our house. I am not an installer but have a fair bit of electronics experience and don't find it too hard. Where I am struggling is with the components required. So Galaxy Flex 20 V3 + a RF portal card along with some DO800M door sensors and DT8M PIR sensors + a MK8 door panel and an ethernet module to allow for smart device arming/notifications. Now the documentation says "compatible with all Honeywell Alpha protocol sensors". Where do I stand on sirens etc? Do I have to use a hard…

I've annoyed you guys before regarding help on my mums house alarm - hoping to pick brains again. Very briefly - power to the keypad seems to drop out - causing the alarm to either start sounding, or rendering the system armed but with you unable to reset... After trying a new board (pcb is it?) and finding i'm just not expert enough to reset the code and start afresh - i decided to clean the old board, and remove and reseat all the wired connections. So far so good - the alarm worked completely normally until today where I've nipped over to mums to find the alarm sounding the and the keypad without power. The stage im at is - do we a) call an engineer in to…

  13. Hi all, I bit the bullet today and decided to try and repair/set up my mums alarm which has been powered down and nonworking for some time. I’ll try and state all the steps I’ve made- then it’ll help with any advice you all might offer. Please excuse my lack of knowledge and experience, I’m quite the newbie. Currently at my mums house whilst she’s away hoping to sort this for her as a surprise for when she’s home. (I believe her alarm is an sl8 ade/accenta sl compact but I’ll attach photos for confirmation) SO! after having power drop out to the keypad some time ago I checked the panel box and found the PCB was bent and cracked from being not bein…

  14. As a title, what are the technologies of alarm sensors that can detect movement through walls? From what I know are only those who use microwave technology up to 10 Ghz. Any indication in this regard is welcome.
