Hi, I have a Texecom Premier Elite 24 which i'm just about to install. I've prewired my house with 8 core alarm cable. There's a room where I will be having a Texecom RKP and a PIR, so i've got 2 cables already in there. However i'm now thinking it would be a good idea to have an internal sounder in this room. The internal sounders i've looked at appear to have 5 connections, my PIR will be using 4 cores (FSL wiring). Is there any way I can "piggy back" off the PIR wiring for the sounder or is it a non-starter? I think I should be able to use the power wires in parallel to the sounder, then use the re…

So i'm finally getting round to wiring up the panel. I've noticed the photos in the gallery have the wiring in the panel twisted. My alarm cable is 8 core but is not twisted. I was just wondering how you all twist the cable? I can't imagine it's by hand, I was just going to attach the end of the pair to my cordless drill and just use that to twist the cable. Is that how others do it?

Hi Folks Good Afternoon. How do the pros go about backing up a honeywell galaxy g2-20, in the event that you want to upgrade to a g2-44 panel, but retaining all the existing information? Is it the RSS suite that you would need? I thinking about upgrading the panel as ive used up all 20 zones in my house. for the any advice. Amz

I Have an Optima Compact fitted with a Honeywell AG6 external bell box. On return from holiday the control panel was totally unresponsive. However there is power to the panel. The mains input is ok, and the feed from the transformer to the panel is reading 17v a.c. which is normal. But the battery is down to 3v which indicates that it is not being charged. Does this mean the PCB has failed and I need a new panel. Any suggestions please.

  5. Hi Folks, hope you are all well. I was looking for some advice. I have Honeywell Galaxy G2-20, today I fitted 3 wireless smoke alarms to the alarm via option 52. I set these up in 1026, 1027 & 1028 as 24 Hour zones. I didnt test the smoke alarms as my 6 month old baby was sleep, however the RF serial number was picked up from the smokes when removing the cardboard from the battery. The issue I am facing is that i tried doing a Night Set from B2, and i kept getting a message RF CHECK ZN 1026 SETTING ABORTED, RF CHECK ZN 1027 SETTING ABORTED, RF CHECK ZN 1028 SETTING ABORTED. The Lowest Signal was found to be 10.00 & the Last Sign…

  6. So I'm just playing with my alarm to get head round it have so far fitted bell box, front door contact and hall PIR. Question is when I go to set the alarm I walk to the panel in the hall I have to walk past the PIR. I go to set the alarm but can't as the PIR is active I have to wait 10 or so seconds for the PIR to deactivate then I can set it. Is that right ? I have read the instructions but can't see anywhere about it. Anyone any ideas the alarm works fine or once set the PIR will set the alarm off if moving in front of it and have set the final edit as the front door and that works fine. Any ideas ? Thanks Mark

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site so hope I'm posting in the right place!? I have a Texecom premier elite 24 alarm installed by a friend, who works for a security company, but is unreliable and isn't getting back to me with the questions I need answering. long story short is the alarm texts me for events, I really want it to call me instead, what comms module or speech dialler do I need? Hope this makes sense and I look forward to your help. Oliver.

  8. I am in the process of replacing my external Bellbox which is connected to a Securit 700L Control panel, the system was installed when the property was built around 1996-7, there is no name on the Bellbox except the flaking writing with the Installers name & phone number. Amazingly I still have the original Engineer instructions (with all codes) and it all still works after having replaced the Battery in the control panel, I then decided to check the Battery in the Bellbox thinking that was also due to be replaced, on removing the Bellbox cover I could see that one of the Battery wires was not even connected and just dangling loose and I suppose it was never conn…

  9. I have an Optima XM alarm system with 4 PIRs around the house. As I'm decorating I'd like to replace the PIRs as the plastic housings have discoloured over the years. Can anyone advise a suitable PIRs for this panel? Thanks in advance. John.

For my premier elite 24 plastic, I have also purchased a texecom USB-Com cable. Could I leave it plugged in when the panel is closed? i.e. route the cable from the back. That way I can easily connect it to my laptop without having to open the panel. This is in a domestic home, so I think it's unlikely a potential intruder would tamper with it. Would this be possible, and if it is is it a bad idea?

  11. Hi all, Bit of a strange request... I have a Risco Agility 3 wireless alarm system installed by a local installer a few years ago, and maintained yearly by same company. Due to a few disagreements with the company in question over extra charges and maintenance exclusions, I wish to sever all ties with them. However they currently have remote access for programming etc, which is something I would rather they didn't have afterwards. How do I go about ensuring this please? I have the master engineer code, if that helps. Thanks, Gerry

Hi everybody, Hope everybody is well? The most simple of questions has stumped me (well, I am a DIY'er!). I'm installing a Pyronix Enforcer. There is no earthing cable from the transformer in the panel - just live and neutral. But, in the installation manual it says it needs to be earthed. I automatically presumed with it being a plastic panel it wouldn't need earthing? (There isn't even an 'earth' symbol on the panel as you may see on appliances requiring an earth). Please could somebody point me in the right direction on this one, please? Thanks in advance

  13. Ok, so I'm a bit confused about how the internal circuitry works for zone o/ps, switched negative o/ps and tamper o/ps. Terminology and o/p descriptions vary a bit on different panels and sounders, so I'm trying to get my head around it. 1) Bell/strobe switched negative - Is this o/p on a panel just an open collector transistor whose collector is pulled low when the base is driven, providing a ground for the strobe and sounder? 2) Zone inputs - Is one leg of the input connected high via a pull up resistor to the 5v supply, and the other leg tied to ground? When contacts are closed, voltage i/p is pulled low, then goes high when a contact opens …

  15. Hi, I have a couple of Pyronix Equinox E dual tec PIR's that have been great; however I'm now finding that they are becoming less sensitive during walk test (but no false alarms though). In fairness they're 20+ years old.... Is such behaviour the norm, and if so I've been looking at Pyronix KX15DT's - are these a worthy replacement? One last question - the Equinox E states a relay contact via a 4.7 ohm series resistor, yet the KX15DT incorporates selectable alarm resistor values of 6K8, 5K6, 4K7 &1K & tamper values of 5K6, 4K7, 2K2 and 1K. So what should I select? My panel tech spec. quotes a "Zone Activation Resistance" of 2Kohms (minimum)" if th…
