Hello, Had an alarm system fitted in my home around 8 years ago. The original installer came last year and serviced it & fitted a new battery in the control box etc. Everything works great. He has since retired and moved away. I’m just about to get an electrician to re-position one of the PIR sensors and I’m wondering how I tell the alarm not to go off when he’s doing the work! I’ve got a Eurosec CP8L keypad and I know the engineers code but could someone tell me the process for putting the system into a sort of ‘maintenance mode’? And then how to get it back to normal service afterwards? Ive read the manuals but I haven’t a clue…

Hi all. I've got a risco gt600 which was installed about 5 years ago by the previous owner by someone who works in an alarm company as a private on the side job. It had one hardwired pir in the garage where the control panel is and the rest wireless pirs in the house with a unit in the loft for the wireless pirs to connect to. Oh and a hardwired rkp in the house also! I've always had a few issues with it. Every so often one of the sensors would false alarm (mainly the same one), then recently I got a 'o!' fault which I got rid of by changing the pir batteries (although I couldn't find out what that fault code meant the battery had the date of Sep…

I have an issue with a Pyronix enforcer alarm kit. The PIR that came is unable to detect in the rear room as there are bifolds and a kitchen which raises the temp too high. I'm looking for a Dual tech PIR and there are 3 available so which is best and easiest to install for a DIY application. FPKX15DT3 ,FPKX15DTAM3, Pyronix Enforcer KX12DT,. cheers

Things came to a head this morning when we lost power three or four times and each time one of my two bell boxes, at least I think it was just one, was activated. However, several problems, historical and new, are occurring with the boxes. 1) For a while now when I set the alarm one of the bell boxes makes a random alarm type tweet(or not) once it sets. Sometimes it might not make a sound, sometimes a full blip and other times a blip of random, truncated length, as if when you set the alarm your catching the circuitry doing some sort of count. 2) So, this morning, for every time that we had a power cut one of the bell boxes would activate …

Does anyone know if you can use another manufacturer's external siren with a Yale Smart wireless system? The site is a listed building in a conservation area and we'd like something a little more discreet! (I've submitted this question to Yale, but so far no response) Thanks, Tim

  7. I got fitted by a local electrician about two years ago a Visonic PowerMaxComplete Burgular Alarm to an apartment I own in Belfast which my daughter uses. It has been working well until about 3 weeks ago when it developed a fault where it showed a warning in the central display "SO1 Battery Low" and every minute it sounded an internal bleep. This can be silenced by the keyfob but it returns every 4 hrs. This is extremely annoying my young daughter but as she is out at work during the day she only hears it when she returns at 5 oclock. I tracked the Fault down to the external Siren and ordered up the two special batteries for the External Siren from Batteries Plus.co.uk. A…

  8. Hi, first post so please be gentle In process of installing Elite 24 with Telecom DBD-0171 RKP, Telecom AMQD PIRs, Texecom Impaq Plus Door Contact AED-0001, Texecom AGB-0002 Smoke Detector RR/4W, Elmdene, ELM-PA-G3-W Panic Button, Elmdene 16 Ohm Extension Speaker EXTSP-16T-W and a Telecom CEL-0001 Connect SmartCom with WinTex. The door contact switch is fitted to Zone 1 of the RKP and the Panic Button to Zone 2 of the RKP. Whilst the house was pre-wired I've discovered that the mean builders only installed a 4 core cable from the door to the RKP location so I had to put both the alarm and reed in series, each bridged with 4k7 resistors, and th…

hi , wonder if anyone could help with problems concerning yale wireless alarm hsa 3000 series when on sunny days the alarm go,s off on its own , i found out its the tamper switch inside the alarm siren box and the cover must expand with the heat of the sun causing the tamper switch to move , ive tried a few times to pack the switch so the switch is tight closed but after a while im back to square 1. the question is can i disconnect the tamper switch or loop the yellow and red wires together or maybe just fit a 12v on/off switch to bypass this. any help appreciated

  11. Puzzle for a wet weekend House was built in 1997 and was pre-wired for alarm system but the 1st owner did not install. When we bought the house in 2001 I hid the ugly cables in electrical surface back boxes. At the time I presumed the 4 cables terminating in the garage were: 1. door switch - cable above front door 2. keypad - cable to side of front door 3. lounge - cable for lounge PIR 4. dinning - cable for dinning PIR I wondered about the cable for the external alarm but never saw any cable in the loft - much of the loft was boarded over. Fast forward to fitting my Elite 24 and I find: 1. door switch - cable above fr…

I have 15 hardwired zones running into a Qolsys Hardwire 16 panel that has been running good for about 4 years. Each zone has 1-4 sensors wired in series with a 3k resistor going into the panel. Recently, I started getting lots of random open and tamper alerts from about 6 zones, all day, including for windows that are never opened. I checked that connections at the panel were secure, tried removing the backup battery, using a surge protector, swapping AC adapters, and even swapping out the panel itself, and the random alerts continue. A multimeter shows the resistance is right around 3k for the zones as expected. In the attic where the wires are r…

Hi, hope someone can advise on my issue, I have a problem with my Texacom Veritas Excel alarm. I have installed 2 texacom PIR's to the system for now, with a view to adding more later. I am using EOL technology. When powering up the system there is an error shown on the keypad display which reads Addr:1 Lid:Shut. I have added an image of this to this post. This appears to be an issue with the keypad which I cannot move on from or porgramme the system. When remove the keypad from the back plate the LCD then shows Addr:1 Lid:Open but again this does not alow me to move on. Is this going to be a keypad fault or am I missing something. …

Hi I am not an installer but wanted to ask a question, I have an Ademco Galaxy 16plus CP171 That was installed by the previous owner, when who knows. Some time ago i fitted new sockets-turning the power off obviously then then turning alarm from panel, however when i cut the power there is no power to panel. There are 2 boxes that contain batteries-do i change both? as i have no idea how old they are-it also says that they are rechargeable.
