  1. So continuing the saga of our alarm system... I am trying to push the detection perimeter of the system further out for earlier warning on intrusions. The major security hole there is currently the motorised car gate. (known to have been lifted or forced open during the last incident) Sensor setup : Industrial magnetic contact in the gate closed position, which is bypassed for 1 min on valid open signals from RF remote/intercom. The zone would then be monitored as 24H active, so alarm if gate opens without the bypass having been triggered. Prepackaged solution would be something like (https://gate-alarm.co.za), which nicely pa…

  2. So a lot of my contacts need to be replaced, most of them on windows which are never really opened. A few are on doors and windows which are regularly opened. The switches are sticking closed. Is this typical if the reed switches aren't "exercised"?, or did I just get low standard switches when I installed my alarm almost 20 years ago?

Hi Can anyone advise me where I can get a replacement keypad please? I have seen a couple of LCD ones, would that work the same with no programming needed?

Hi, Don't ask me how I've managed to do this, but I've lost both main panel lid screws for my alarm. D'oh! Can anyone tell me where to get replacements please? Or if able, tell me what size the screws are and I can source them from my local fasteners. Thanks in advance. James

Hi, apologies if this has been asked before. Am attempting to replace an alarm in my mums, dad died recently and she wants the security. They had a Response alarm, wired PIRs and door contacts. 6 core cable, 2 power, 2 detector and 2 anti tamper. Am replacing the control box with oswoo pg100 wired and wireless, hoping to use the concealed wiring and PIRs already in, and wireless for whatever extras she wants. Door contact circuits work just fine but having nightmares with the PIRs. Have wired in the 2 power, and the two for the zone, such that the PIR detects, leaving aside the anti tampers for now which i'll wire into a separate zone for all. I cannot make the alarm trig…

Good day all! I hope you can help.. I inherited an old (12+ year) Texecom alarm 4 zone (I see all the current stuff is 8 zone expandable) this is 4 solid expandable.. so.. discontinued maybe? which I'd like to restore to working condition. The tenants of the place didn't know the code. The landlords didn't know the code. The battery is long gone so I replaced the 12v battery, reset to default, and checked all the wiring. The keypad is an LED model saying "Premier". So I plug the battery in, plug AC in, it turns on. Of course all the lights are red etc along with the Trouble light. I got into Engineers mode with ##REMOVED## Mode 9, then I set date and time (options 95 and …

Hi, We have had a pm360 system with the gateway box and a seperate keypad to set the alarm with (nothing visual at all). We have had the system for nearly 3 years and I am looking at alternatives. Will it be cheaper / easier to purchase a new system entirely, or will it be better to do a full hard reset of the adt system to try and use it as a standalone visonic alarm? (once the contract has been cancelled of course. I am tech savvy, no issues with fiddling with things! Thanks, Matt

Hi, We bought a house with an old optima XM house alarm. No codes provided as the house was being rented for many years. The seller did not remember/knew the codes and they did not care either :-/ The alarm MCB was simply tripped out. When I tripped it back in the speaker in the control panel was making a horrible noise and the strobe outside was flashing (no sound from the bell). The power light on the panel was lit. I was trying to find info on line but due to this alarm being so ancient - there's hardly anything... I disconected all zone wires and speaker to preserve my hearing:-) What now?…

  10. Hi, I have a Texecom 832 panel (can confirm exact software version once home again) I am trying to configure a new external PIR that covers the driveway in front of the garage to have an exit delay when Arming (Away arm specifically) the system, as we are getting some false alarms when my wife arms the system when slightly too close to the Garage I have configure the exit delay for the Partition that the zone belongs to (Programming menu option 20) But this seems not to have added any exit delay at all. Does anyone know what I am missing here, or suggest what else I should check and report back on for better feedback? …

  11. I have setup a wireless PIR and as recommended, added it into a point. How do I now assign it to a zone?

  12. Can I do this temporarily while testing to check whether the panel is alarming properly (and the internal sounder can be heard ok)? I can't find the setting in the Engineer menu. Also can I use a wireless internal sounder as an audible device when doing a walk test and I'm out of the range of being able to hear a keypad?

Hello, I have some rope sensors installed on my rolling shutters. I have a Risco Plus system. According to the handbook I set the "loop response" to "extra fast, 1ms". I would like to know if there is a recommended value for the pulse count value. I can understand that it could depend on sensor brand but I'm figuring out if there is any value to be set that come from general experience. Thank You Regards

Hi, I have a ScanTronic 9651 installed and all working fine, but the cover flap on the keypad (9941) has broken off and my toddler likes to go and press the buttons! I’ve had a look through the installation guide, but I’m puzzled on what process I would follow to replace the keypad, avoiding tamper alarms etc. Can anyone help or is it a case of getting the pro’s in? thanks Carl
