Hi. I have an Acorn Control Panel installed in my garage block from 1986 which apart from changed rechargeable batteries is still going strong. I have replaced the external bell box with a new box and sounder but the bell time is addressed by resistors and links that you cut on the PCB in the panel. Has anyone got a copy of the installation instructions from one of these very old panels. It was originally a Shorrock installation. Thanks Chris

Hi all, I have a property in South Asia and would like to secure entry by code lock which can be changed online. The area can also have compromised electrical supply but good 5g, 4g cover. Any ideas how this can be done? Regards

  3. Hi. I am searching for someone who may know how to diagnose a ‘line fault’ on an old Balmoral panel. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find an engineer manual (or a user manual for that matter) so I was wondering if anyone knows about these panels. I suspect it will be to do with comms or data? I have gone through the programming/engineer options but to no avail. I am aware that engineer manuals cannot be published publicly on here. BTW I collect alarms hence why I have such an old panel. Thanks.

Can anyone help with a problem I have with the Visonic app registration. I have a PM10(not ADT) and powerlink 3.1. Can set up account ok, but says “wrong identification” when I try add the panel. I have double checked panel ID and user code along with comms setup and all looks good. Any ideas what could be causing this issue? thanks.

Hi - hopefully someone will be able to help me out. I have an Ademco Accord 8 alarm, just this last 24 hours it doesn't seem to want to arm properly. When entering the code and pressing Full Set as normal, there is a beeping noise and all of the zone lights are on solid red. It just stays making the noise until I put the code in again. Any ideas how to get it back to normal? Thanks

How can I locate a CPU box associated with a Concept 6 alarm from the early 1990's. I have been told that I need to locate the Central Processing Unit box in order to deactivate it. I have looked high and low for the CPU bat have been unable to locate it. Is there an easy way to find the CPU or is there a specific location that it would have been placed in? The wires from the rear of the external box travel inside the front bedroom and presumably under floorboards. Would it have to be sited vertically? Would it have to be located within a specific distance from the pad or external box? Could it be deactivated/removed without finding the CPU? …

  7. Firstly, thanks for any help/advice. I am in a rented house (in the UK) where the intruder alarm was said to be out of use, and so we haven't touched it. The panel on the wall is a Scantronic 9751. This morning at 2.45am, 5.30am and 5.45am the alarm sounded internally and externally. It was not set by us. I believe the system has some panic alarms attached which may be faulty. The wall panel now displays PANIC RESET REQUIRED PA202 What I want to know, is, in this current state is the panic alarm function disabled? (And therefore won't go off again). That's all I need to know. I have of course tried t…

Hi all I’m at my wits end after an evening interrupted by intermittent beeping (two tone) on my Veritas R8 alarm. The unset light is flashing. Seemingly no pattern to the beeping - seems to stop once the code is entered and I press reset but then begins again within 30 mins to an hour. Incredibly frustrating. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Afternoon All , I was wondering if anybody could help with any ideas for an alarm system which would alert when two vehicles tailgate through a barrier , when this occurs it would trigger a sounder in the CCTV control room to alert operatives , any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, wonder if you could confirm my thoughts please. My daughter is abroad on holiday at the moment and I received a call from her saying her neighbour had just called to let her know that her alarm was going off, By the time I got to her house and the sounder had stopped but the strobe was still flashing outside. I went in and entered the code, the keypad was showing tamper but no zones were lit, on further inspection the downstairs RCD had tripped and the green light on the control panel was flashing, so running just on the battery. I turned on the RCD and cleared the tamper but left the alarm unset for the moment, not wanting to upset the neighbours again. …

Hi, I recently bought a house where there is a Challenger 5 alarm fitted, and loads of sensors everywhere. I know ot was fitted in 1995 and don't think it has been serviced ever since. It is still connected, although the "tamper" light is on, probably indicating a fault. I want to disconect and remove the whole thing, but I'm not sure where to start with. Any advice? Thanks

Hi-I hope someone can answer my question as I am experiencing heath issues due to electrical interference (headaches, earache etc). I am unsure, but have my suspicions that the constant 'hum' I can hear is due to interference from neighbours' security systems, and/or wifi and have no idea what to do. 1)Is it possible that local security systems can affect electrics? I live in a link detached property with a neighbour to my side, one to the back, about 50ft away, and one across the road 50ft away, all with security systems. How far could their range be? 2)There are several wifis in the area, including a bt hotspot-is this an issue? 3)Is there anything I can…

Hoping someone can help I have a Galaxy G48 and at random times of the day (or more annoyingly) the night, it alarms as door forced max reader. The issue is I don’t have any max door readers. I have moved the reader address to an unused group and still get the issue. Does anyone have any ideas?
