  1. Started by Terry Hunter,

Had a customer broken into last night - cameras picked up the intruder but the HKC alarm didn't report anything until the Police when in 6 hours later then all worked and the monitoring station received everything. I think HKC were doing maintenance on their servers as this is not the 1st time I have experianced this and I doubt if they will come clean. Besides this why do Security suppliers especially HKC have no support (even email) over the holiday.

  3. Hi, Need some help. Had a working alarm for may years with no issues. Added a new PIR to a new bedroom (zone 9) and garage (zone 10) but keypad kept coming up with "Call engineer to reset system" and "zone 9 tamper". No issues with zone 10. Tried entering user code and pressing the reset button but this did nothing. Even tried with engineer/master code but still nothing. I've defaulted the panel and it still says system alerts and the date, zone 1 tamper, zone 2 tamper, call alarm com for service. Bit stumped on what to do next, as you you can probably tell in not a pro. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  7. Started by Colin C,

I am a retired alarm installer and have just been working on my Gardtec 816, I have an old windows XP PC which I keep for programming this and some other old stuff. Today I successfully connect to the alarm panel after a while it lost communications and I seem unable to get it to work. I have tried all the obvious stuff: restart PC, check the leads, ensure alarm panel setting are correct to allow connection. I am hoping somebody will have some experience with this and can suggest some ideas to help. Thanks Colin

Hi. I have a 9448 it is working perfectly all user functions work eg turn chimes on and off it sets, unsets everything good as far as user functions go. However if I try to get into engineer programing mode by 0, enter and my code it just beeps and nothing happens ie no flashing red leds nothing. It has had a recent new battery and that test good under load. I wonder if there is another code sequence I am unaware of I should try or is it new panel time. All help much appreciated. Thanks. John.

  9. I have had CCTV on my home for roughly 7 years due to threatening behaviour from my next door neighbour. I am classified as a "vulnerable adult" and live with somebody who has clinical anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. The behaviour from my neighbour has meant I have had to add-on to the CCTV in a piecemeal manner over the years - initially it was a case that my neighbour didn't like me welding in my own garage and stated he'd "knock my head off" if I did it again, so I fitted up cameras including a PTZ on the front corner of the property *BUT* with no recording facility as the cameras were intended purely as a deterrent. For a few years he made no comments abou…

  10. Currently have wired PIR sensors and changing over to pet friendly ones. Current one has 6 wires - power (2), alarm (2) and tamper (2) New sensor only has - power (2), alarm (2) - no tamper terminals Can I simply ignore the current tamper wires or should they joined to complete a circuit or remove from alarm panel end? Advice would be very helpful and ppreciated.

Hi, Hoping for some advice. We moved in to a house with securitech 700l alarm (5 pirs and one door contact) it has worked fine other than a couple of false alarms - I think from the dishwasher not being fully closed at night and releasing steam. We've got building work going on and they knocked the bell box, setting off the alarm. The internal alarm turned off with the code but the external bell didn't until it timed out after 10-15 minutes or so. They've replaced the bell box cover but the tamper red light flashing won't clear from the keypad, the wires to it may have been damaged as they are loose as that part of wall was dismantled and being reb…

  12. Hi folks, Apologies for being a complete alarm noob, I'm looking for some advice regarding a couple of things. The buttons on the keypad decide to randomly stop working. So I was thinking I'd take the thing apart and clean the button contacts etc for a start. I'm assuming the tamper protection will go off as soon as I start opening/disconnecting wires. Is there a way to prevent this? So I can disconnect it, clean the internals, put it back and Bobs your aunty? The other thing is I need to replace the battery in the control panel, but I can't see an obvious way into it. Is there particular method to get the thing open? Will it also go be…

  13. Hi, Hoping someone can help and point me in the right direction. REF: Risco LightSYS2 Alarm: Lost Door Connector Issue Whilst wiping and cleaning the area around a garage door that has a Door Connector, it set the Tamper Alarm off. I managed to get into Engineer code and once in there and in coming out of the menu.....the tamper symbol was resolved and no longer showed, I could then set the alarm once more. However, later that evening in trying to set either partial or full alarm, the message 'LOST Door Connector' for garage message comes up and I can't set the alarm. The only way I can set the alarm is to OMIT the Gara…

Recently changed my keypad for an updated version to fit 9651 Scantronic. After installing it which was fitted whilst in installer mode, it has come up with low battery. I since replaced the battery for new bearing in mind the original was a year old. Did the half reset on the panel now can use the code but still showing low battery and cant use the factory reset number as it says wrong code. Do i need to ask an engineer to come out and do a reset.

  15. I’ve lost the old manual I had for this keypad and cannot remember the make. I’m sure there are some old guys with good memories out there. Needing to reprogram and change codes. Thanks
