Does anybody know if there are any load rules regarding ladders ontop of vans? I know obviously weight is an issue to the bars and roof, but what about length? Am I right in saying that to be legal, ladders must not stick out further than the footprint of the van?

My funniest one was one I didnt get. A well to do customer of mine for the last 20 odd years called me into his study after my maintenance visit, (they always get it done just before they go to Madeira for Christmas). I see a bottle of finest scotch whisky on the desk as he said, Do you like whisky? well I dont, but hey ho wasnt going to miss this opportunity to get my first christmas off the tight git! Yes I do says me, to which he replied So do i and as soon as you go Im going to crack open this fine malt and have a couple of drams. Ever felt like youve been led up the garden path.!!

I have been looking at the possibilities of using the "CheckMyCCTV" service, Just wondering if any of you guys here have used it or are using it now, Looking for feedback. I have a system in place now for hardware monitoring our systems, but its a little limited. Looking at the features of the software, It seems to report a good amount of info. Thanks

So after months of musings i finally got the system installed this weekend! firstly thanks to all here that helped me make up my mind! for those that are interested here is what happened after i finally decided to call in the professionals rather than do a self install contacted 6 firms; 3 ssaib and 3 nsi nacoss. 3 of them provided price and 2 did survey. went with the nsi nacoss in the end. the installation comprised 1 enforcer kit with 2 rf fobs, 1 door contact and 11 PIRs, 1 siren and 1 decoy came to just under 1000 plus vat made the conscious choice not to monitored at this stage given the cost outweighs the risk. Really pleased with the firm i…

For all you folks out there who run their own company, does your holidays differ between engineers, admin and sales or are they all standard. I am just asking as I have just found out that the company I work for all holidays differ with engineers getting the least. Is this common or is it just the company I work for? .

Has anyone had any experience with these? Sounds like good concept to me but I don't hear that people I work with have had good experiences.

Some help needed, Galaxy panels are not my norm but can do most things but stuck on a problem. Galaxy 60 lost all programming and so having to start from scratch System has two independent areas both have there own e/e and max keypad Programmed all zones etc and enabled groups Programmed the zones into there relevant group How do I allocate each keypad to a group? Some users can access both groups and others just one group - how is it set up so that the multi area users just enter that area and arm/disarm that area only?

Does anyone know where I can find a definitive list of what small vans are subject to the car speed limits of 30/60/70/70 and not 30/50/60/70? Its surprisingly hard to get a straight answer, even emailing Renault, VW, citroen and peugeot via their head office websites asking about the speed limits applicable to their models all I get is " Thank you for your enquiry why dont you come in to the dealership to discuss your requirements..." That kind of weasely **** makes you not want to deal with them at all.

Just installed a Scantronic 9448+ panel and Deltabell Plus to a domestic garage, and added a Sound Bomb (quad piezo) inside wired in parallel with the Deltabell (Bell Trigger and +12V), but found that the upon a Bell test, the Sound Bomb sounded OK, but the Deltabell didn't activate (The strobe activated OK). I disconnected the Bell trigger to the Sound Bomb and the Deltabell then worked just fine, but whenever I reconnect the Sound Bomb to the Bell trigger, the Deltabell fails to sound. The 9448+ panel delivers 500mA negative applied and the Sound Bomb consumes 125mA, Deltabell Plus consumes < 300mA, so power shouldn't be a problem. Any ideas?

We have been asked by one of our customers if we can supply a detection device that will detect a mobile phone being carried out of a premises by staff (distribution warehouse) through some kind of scanner. The phones will not be switched on and will not have batteries in (Brand new) I have had one price from an American company of £6000 Anyone else been asked this and has anyone got a reasonably priced solution?
