If we take over a panel installed and prev looked after by an NSI/SSAIB Installer do the panel owners/house holder have any rights to the Engineer code or are the prev Installers/maintainers bound by any reg's to default code or let owner know code ??

Found this post in the electricians section in the Screwfix forums, thought you guys might be interested. Apologies if this has already been posted... Sarah Kennedy was talking about this proposed car tax scheme on Radio 2. Apparently there is only one month left to register your objection to the 'Pay As You Go' road tax. The petition is on the 10 Downing St website but they didn't tell anybody about it. Therefore at the time of Sarah's comments only 250,000 people had signed it and 750,000 signatures are required for the goverment to at least take any notice. Once you've given your details (you don't have to give your full address, just house number and postcode wil…

Hi, I'm after some rough quotes to install a Texecom Premier 24 and all its accessories. I've already bought all the kit, and the house is currently been renovated so easier to install in the house. Feel free to PM with prices, Thanks very much, Paul

How un-helpful can we get..? A question I should not be asking myself. These last few months this community seems to have lowered itself yet again by on numerous occasions being rather un-helpful, disrespectful and be-littling to our public members. There is NO excuse for this, it does nothing for the reputation of this community and it's Trade membership. Recent PM's to myself from many PUBLIC and Trade members have been to complain about various replies to publicly asked questions. It is my opinion that if any member has nothing useful to add to the origional query then he should not bother to reply. Any replies to posts in the publicly viewable sections of this …

Has anyone come across Red4Bed? All you old pervs stop getting excited it - it's not a porno! It's a prox system from mdt and works with the avanti range of control panels. I keep hearing about it and a few guys are saying it's gr8. Dead easy to use apparently. Anyone out there know anything about it. Ask the bloody distributors and all they know is the bleedin order number not what it does. I'm sure I heard somewhere that it's something to do with ADE. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not though!!!!!!!! Dan

Hio All, i discovered from an article in my local free newspaper that as from the 1st Jan 2007, you most include details of you companies address and contact details along with phone, fax numbers. also you registered office address on you web site and in all buisness emails, this as you can guess attracts a fine if you don't. as i had never heard of it, i thought others might have missed it to. you can put this info in the 'boiler plate' at the foot of emails, and i suggest you modify your templates pronto. regs alan

Gents, I have a bit of a problem with an Elvox system and a Came gate controller. The PTO on the handset, which is intermittant and sometimes the whole thing stops working, the call tone, the code entry and the AV and the only way to release the gate is via radio fob. I got the thing working for a while after swapping the pairs round in the ground sensor loop relay. This would suggest that the PTO pair from the monitor aren't clean. If I used an AC relay to isolate the PTO pair, would that work. Or am I barking up the wrong one. I've had to leave the PTO out so the rest will work. , TB

  15. I LIKE this site! - But let me know what you guys like to use. Here we've got mainly Ademco, GE, Napco and some DSC. I'm really interested to find out about voltage requirements, that kind of thing. On this side of the pond we in the alarm industry are generally low voltage guys. Seperate from the high voltage guys 120v and up. I would really like to learn more about the U.K. alarm industry. Although I've been in this business for about 30 years, reading your site is like a whole new experience. I feel like a kid in a candy store. So, please, feed me!!!!! - Russ
