I recently made a claim for the mis-selling of my endowment mortgage - the mortgage was paid off years ago but I felt it right to make the claim as it was mis-sold. I've just received a cheque for compensation - have you had a claim settled, if so what was the settlement figure - I'm pondering on whether or not to accept.

Just a quick post to say we have just ordered some new panel stickers, CCTV housing stickers, call forms and spur minor works certs. I ordered them from Affinity Graphics and they were ordered on Tuesday and they arrived on Thursday. No big order levels, in fact we are looking to move soon and only ordered 2 pads! I expect a lot of you use them already as they specialise in security paperwork. But for those of you who don't they are worth a look. Excellent quality IMO and brilliant service from Linda (website). Credit where credit is due. Dave

Try typing your name into Google Images. End up with loads of geeks with your name, scary. Not so much fun if your name is John Smith. David Phelps is pretty rare but there is a Christian singer in the states, ehhhhh. My misses is away on a girlie weekend in Ilfracombe so I have got to amuse myself some way. Good job she pranged my Citroen C4 on Thursday and my laptop hard disk blew up on the same day. Dave

Allegra Bell boxes Recently we have had problems with Allegra bell boxes over 6yrs old the plastic tamper rod that holds the rear box tamper closed has been misbehaving. Took a couple of late windy night's to discover the problem. The customer would reset system the tamp would close and give a perfect reading until the next windy night. The plastic rod had become brittle. Worth sharing with you all especially when called out at 2am and it's windy. 'Sharing and caring' Mr Happy No Jack Nicholson replies please!!

A familiar story!! You install an alarm, and give the normal 12 month's service agreement. After 12 you write advising them of your 'call out' terms and the need for a service agreement, they never phone or make contact. Two year's go by and you have the normal call. 'Hello YOUR alarm (not their's) has gone wrong can you come out (they want it for free ALMOST) Being kind you do go out (charging more) because you are 'a kind old boy' You do the business and again the next year goes by and again they do not give a s--t. Again you hear only when they have a problem. WE NOW POLITELY ADVISE THEM 'have sex and travel' or pay

Yesterday downloaded the IE7 upgrade from the Microsoft site - didn't really want it but heard that Microsoft would be "force-releasing" it via a future update so I wanted to get used to it and only accept the version with the non-Yahoo bar. Installation went well ... but it knocked out my broadband! Nothing I could do to resolve it and spent most of yesterday with no broadband - had to eventually use my Acronis Trueimage to restore a complete hard drive image from 24 hours earlier. So if you intend to download and install IE7, make sure that you can get your PC back to how it was ... just in case!

Hi I'm moving into a rented house in a few weeks and want to get an alarm for it. I want something cheap and easy to install (and uninstall). I've seen a response alarm on screwfix... http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.js...=91745&id=60894 ...is this any good? Do wirefree alarms like this eat up lots of batteries? How often do i need to change batteries in the alarm and the sensors? Are they easy for burglars to disable? Would this alarm actually be effective? I'm moving into a little semi and reckon just 2 PIRS will do the job. I need wirefree because the landlord doesn't want me to mess with the house much and I want something I can take with me when I…

On a little site we have in the city today, 3 houses all with red/gsm. Did 1st house tested all sigs all detectors ect, was doing good for time might even get an early lunch. Go to next house (all 3 in a row, touch !!) put panel into engineering and go down the stairs to the panel and get a "shock" off the handrail, first thought was static , but we have all had a "belt" at one time so i was getting worried. Then the customer said that happens a lot, in that case i thought its not static ( As i wear rubber soles all the time was discounting it all the time anyway) Gets out multi meter, sets to ac range , probes on two wall brackets holding the wooden handrail 240VAC, …
