A good customer has asked me to check her sons new house. The previous occupant had left what looks a reasonable system - 868mhz and also seems to be two way monitoring. But, when trying to register the system on his phone it shows that its already registered elsewhere. So, I presume there's a reset sequence? Anyone know how?

  3. I have a Honeywell Optima alarm panel, with seperate Led Keypad. One morning in the early hours my son (half asleep) mistakenly identified the kitchen clock radio blaring as an alarm activation. During his attempt to shut down the alarm (which was not even sounding - actually the kitchen radio was sounding) he entered programming mode and has inadvertently affected the alarm settings. Now PIR no3 is permanently on alert. This PIR is located on upstairs landing. Whenever anyone passes in front of this PIR the alarm immediately activates. Even if the system is in Day mode it activates an alarm. When the system is part set during the day …

Just a question to see if anyone is using Orisec for their controls etc and do you rate their equipment? Anyone using their new wireless range and would you rate it better than Risco equipment?

Hi guys. Have another thread regarding my “upgrade” of my home alarm system. Apparently I upgraded sideways so will now look to do a proper revamp. PIRs will be wireless. Keypad and external box are wired. Comms via phone line to me fine. Would like to be able to access via app but keep cost down ( I’m 50 years old from Glasgow). Open to any options. I can do it myself after 30 years doing fire alarms.

Has anyone worked on inner range equipment. Have some demo kit being sent down to have a play with but it's not a manufacturer I've ever come across

  8. Hello, Bought a house with a working Scantronix 9100 system. That was in 2019. Today, I decided to open the main box and found the service paper record inside. Serviced yearly from 1989 until 2014. 25 years and counting. I want to keep the system. I like '80. Anyway - I am omitting ZONE 3 at the moment. It consists of 6 vipers. Since zone "3" is showing while arming I assume one of the vipers fails. Without Zone 3 everything works just fine. I can use a multi meter, unscrew and connect a new Viper but I need to know which one is faulty ;) I don't know what is EOL, etc so please don't ask me that. Each of them is flashing red w…

  9. More American news...but https://www.cnet.com/home/security/adt-sues-amazons-ring-over-use-of-blue-octagon-logo/ Don't like the term "DIY home security company" used in the article, more like "Bezos global empire tat boxes" IMO

Hi, hope this is the correct forum for this. I recently cancelled my ADT monitored alarm as I no longer required it. I expected ADT would collect the alarm stuff but they want me to pay an undisclosed amount for an engineer. I turned that one down and decommission it myself. I thought I'd check here to see if what I intended would work OK :- 1. cut the power. 2. cut the phone lead. 3. be ready to enter my code if it goes off. 4. snip the lead to the speaker before 5. whipping the cover off and snipping the battery leads. Anything I've missed? I'm hoping this will be a relatively silent process. I am assuming the alarm spea…

Hello everyone. Long time since I have been in here but could one of you fine fellows answer a question about a Pyromix Euro 46. Can the panel be 4 wire and say the expanders be EOL. Would get me out of a big hole if it could. Cheers

Hi everyone, I'm after some help please. I've got the Eurosec CP8L home alarm system, and a week ago whilst doing some house work, I turned off the mains, unaware it would run down the battery. When I turned it back on, it had two error messages "Check mains fault" and "low battery". I managed to change the battery but the first error message remained, then the new battery discharged as well, so the unit has no power at the moment. I've been suggested to change the fuses, but if I can ask a dumb question, I can't find where the fuses are. Can anyone help. Thank you.
