  1. Hi guys, can you help settle an argument? Is it an nsi gold requirement that the engineer code be changed when an employee (engineer) leaves the company? Or is it just good practice? Also, should it be changed annually? thanks in advance.

Hi guys, when i commission an intruder alarm i always take a closed loop cable resistance for every detector, but have been "advised"!!!? By another engineer that he has spoken to inspectors who have told him that its fine to just record the zone, tamper res from the zone,ie whats shown on the keypad, i feel somones being a little idle, Would love to see your views on this, and if anyone else feels this is also ok,?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.Today I have replaced my old Lynteck bell box with the Pyronix Deltabell Plus G2. My alarm system is very old but I am sure they should be compatible. The wiring was as follows;Old Lynteck Bell BoxSTRTRG (believe this is trigger?)HOLD +HOLD -TAMP RNew Deltabell boxT - I wired the TAMP R To thisT - I introduced a wire from the 12v- to thisENG HOLD - Not using thisSTB - connected STR from old boxBELL - connected TRG12v+ - connected HOLD + 12v- - connected HOLD - (and additional wire to T)All was going well however, the panel showed a bell tamper. Having read lots of posts I saw that I should introduce a wire from the 12v - to the additio…

I just upgraded my old Castle Caretech panel and 3 zems, to a Pyronix Enforcer and 4 new zems. The extra Zem is ncessary at the side of the new panel because the new panel only has 2 inputs. I am using all the old sensors and cabling as they worked perfectly previously. I am finding that each time i arm the system, three comms errors appear in the log during the 5 minutes after the alarm is set. No further errors are ever logged while the alarm is set, and it has never falsely triggered. I've got the phone app working nicely and I am pleased with the information it gives me. So, trying to troubleshoot this....The documentation for my old system recommended t…

I included the word 'smart' in the title although I remain to be convinced that there is such a beast, especially in the UK. I am willing to accept that many UK alarm brands e.g. Honeywell, Texecom, etc. deliver a reliable and secure alarm system. Likely much more so than many US alarm systems and modern Internet orientated home wireless systems such as Yale, Ring, etc. However I am looking for a system to discourage your average knuckle dragging crim rather than a sophisticated expert who can bypass anything. I am more interested in the basics, that it lend it self to a modern self monitoring smart home approach and that it not look so ugly that e…

Today i had to decommission our neighbour's alarm but the bell box was rusted shut so i ripped it off the wall and drowned it im impressed that its still sounding underwater

  9. I am planning to secure a boundary with external Optex beams and XDL12TT detectors all connected to a Pyronix Enforcer Control Panel V10. I will not be installing an external bell box and merely want to be notified inside or via push notifications. How loud is the Enforcer panel's internal sounder? Is it likely to be loud enough to wake me up/alert me of any triggers whilst being located 10m away in a cupboard? Additionally, is there a secondary buzzer I could connect wirelessly and site internally on the other side of the property?

I've recently had three separate issues where the leaf tampers (two on PA buttons and one on a small junction box) ended up causing wavering resistances (2k2/4k7 system reporting 4k0 or 9k0 resistances randomly) and caused tamper/ intruder alarms. I've tried everything possible to ensure terminations are secure and tight, conductors are making good contact with the terminals and the covers of the components are screwed down tight (not loose, not over tightened), in one case I resorted to adding a little more length onto the tamper leg to ensure it has good contact on the leaf which seems to have worked (and the tamper still functions as required). The only cor…
