  1. I have been very worried about my grandma ever since my grandpa passed away two months ago. Whenever my husband and I go out to work we have to leave her alone in our house. She is very stubborn and when we talked to her about hiring a caregiver she was not happy with it. She does not have any health issues and she is saying that she can manage the whole situation by herself. But she is getting old and we are worried about the fact that if something happens to her while we are away we would be the ones to get the blame. Burglar attacks are very common in our area. So we are planning of setting up a free home security system from ###REMOVED LINK### that would give some ale…

  3. Hello I am installing an ADT/Elmdene bell box (external sounder) in a Honeywell Galaxy 3-48C panel. I'm fine on the wiring but the bell box has EOL tamper resistors in it and need to cut the right link to ensure the EOL resistance is correct for the unit to function correctly. Anyone know what is the right resistance is for the Galaxy system? Options are 0, 1k or 4k7 ohms. There is also a tamper cascade link. The instructions from Elmdene and Honeywell don't mention the resistance for the bell box nor the tamper cascade. Thanks in advance, Rich

Hi, I have a vistronic power master alarm system, I was wondering if anyone knew if I can use the main unit to set the away function as my keypad is not working and struggling to find a replacement keypad as it seems obsolete. I don’t know if I would activate my PIR on the way out of the house after activating it and the same when I come home and open my front door to walk to the main unit and disarm. Any advice would be much appreciated

  5. I have a property with an EE broadband subscription that I took over. Before fitting the ethernet module for the Dimension panel I installed I thought I'd check to make sure the IP was static so I I could ask them to to provide one if necessary. Answer: "No it's not static" "Oh can you give me one please?" "No we don't do that" `Great. I'm assuming the Galaxy App needs a fixed IP address and anyway I'll want one for the CCTV. Does anyone know if this will work with a DynDns type service and how reliable/unreliable it's likely to be? Thanks

Anyone here know a thing or two about these bell boxes? Just connected to a Dimension panel, outputs 1001 and 1002 for bells and strobe, bells working fine but the strobe isn’t activating when testing outputs. First time I’ve installed one of these (only the old Odyssey series and never had a problem) and I was surprised when the siren didn’t sound briefly before going into the “special engineer mode” when first connecting to the panel. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Hi all, We bought a house recently with Texecom Elite V3 system installed in it and I am trying to get it sorted. The previous owner didn't leave us with any details unfortunately - the system was not maintained by anyone. We don't know who installed it in order to get the engineer code (the default doesn't seem to work so I assume it was changed when installed). Thankfully the default master code worked so I was able to reset most of the errors (mainly from PIR/door sensors that had dead batteries). The only issue left is the siren box which is triggering as soon as I put new batteries in. I assume I need the engineer's code in order to reset the error (I tried with…

  8. I've just installed a new Mk4 Openreach Master Socket onto our phone line. I connected BT's line and the auto-dialler's cable directly together at the Master Socket's terminals. Is this correct? The reason I ask is that after installing the new Master Socket, I did a test activation of the alarm to check that ADT was receiving the signal ok. ADT confirmed that they received it ok, but when I then did an internet speed test, the speed was almost zero! I used BT's automatic fault-finding system and after it 'Refreshed' my BT Hub, normal internet speed was resumed. It seems that the auto-dialler somehow upset our internet connection, so is there a …

I’m doing a basic install and on a D48 panel but have come up against some sticking points. I’m very comfortable with the G2 architecture and programming so don’t know whether it’s a firmware thing or if the Dimension is that different. (both?). Anyway, here are the issues in no particular order: 1) Very embarrassing but I can’t set the alarm! On entering the user code and pressing A the beep continues infinitely and the countdown bar doesn’t move. 2) I can program a prox tag but even when option 8 (max) is set to timed set, I cannot set the alarm with a tag. 2) During the walk test I can’t hear the zones triggering on the keypad? …

Hi all, My house alarm is continuously beeping everyday at 2pm which I reset with the user code. I can assume the battery is the issue, in the control panel which is Honeywell security Galaxy 2-12. Can someone please help with the following: 1) Which battery do I require to purchase 2) Do I need an engineer code for anything or does the user code I use be enough? 3) I saw video of replacing the battery and it seems like all it requires is clipping and unclipping the battery - however when I switch the mains off the alarm is still on, does that mean it should still be safe as long as the red and black obviously d…

  13. Hi, I will need to wire up quite few access control panels with mostly all the cables from devices wired with Cat5e FTP cables, well... only supplies for the locks 1.5mm twin cable. Panels itself quite roomy but I'm unsure how to make it look good inside with all those skinny solid strand twisted wires. Is there maybe (at least I couldn't find) a topic in this forum with some install pictures that I could browse? Any one maybe have any pictures for sharing in this topic? Or maybe suggestions? I know it's not end of the world, but I would like to make it nice looking. Thanks.

when your mobile telephone rings & you have no idea who the caller is you can answer it by saying - hello, You could screen your calls by not answering, however I ain't going to leave voice mail messages in a mail box which doesn't state who it belongs too. Should you ring back at some point I have no idea who you are unless you give me at least a hint of your name & address I've not saved your details into the handset, I answer every call (unless blocked) with hello, I could not give a shinny shit whether your job gets repaired or not.
