!!..DIY Installers..!!

Hi I have recently installed a Scantronic 500r+. The system works fine upto a point, it can programme the detectors, set off the bell, strobe, operates fine on walk through test, but it would not set the alarm. In trying to investigate the problem the tamper alarm has gone off and the control panel will not now reset. How can I reset the panel? Do I have to power down and then back up? The user guide refers to calling the service installer if this happens and I can't locate the correct piece of information in the installation guide. I am using the factory resets. Hope you can help.

I have decided to get rid of my wireless burglar alarm system (because of repeated problems) and replace it with a wired system. The old wireless system has a 12v back up battery so I presume the system is powered by 12v. If I buy a new wired system will I be able to use the Bell box that is already installed if I make sure the new wired system is 12v. Thanks Alan

Hi everyone! Came accross this nice Alarm Control Panel and a Speech Dialer. Looks to me like an DIY-Installation. The Costumer took the system over without handing out any manuals. Problem is now that he wants me to reprogram the speech dialer to report to his phonenumber. Does anyone know what type of speech dialer this is and where to find the manuals for both devices? Does anyone know where you can get 16 ohm flush ceiling mount extension speakers suitable for an optima g3 alarm panel. All the genuine alarm extension speakers are pretty ugly wall mount, but I would like to fit one flush in the ceiling. The only flush ceiling speakers I can seem to find are 8 ohm with mid range and tweeter intended for a stereo system and hence a lot more money.

Hi I have the Protector xtra X10 wireless alarm system fitted to my home and recently I bought a new //.National Installer.// Bell Box with siren and strobe, made by Bentel Security, part# TS100. My alarm system is 240v but the Siren is 13.8v. How do I connect this up to my wireless alarm system? Has anyone else done this or similar? Thanks

Hi. I have several housesafe 3 in 1 fire alarms in my property, these are the ones that replace a light pendant. They are all interconnected so if one triggers they all go off. I want to use the interconnect to operate the fire switch on my alarm panel, so that a speech dialler will inform me if there is a fire alarm trigger. You cannot draw any current from the housesafe alarms because the voltage will drop down too far, so you cant just use a relay. So I have an op-amp and relay to close a contact when there is a trigger from the fire alarm. I'm planning on having a Gardtec Nova 2 at the front of the house and a Texecom Odyssey 1E at the back. I'm using a Galaxy 16+ panel. I think I've got the gist of it (in theory), it's just the tamper thats a bit more invloved than the rest of the connections (which are just wired in paralell?) There's a diagram of how I think it's done below. Hopefully, I'm not too far off

Hi Got a problem that need addressing ( I have installed a Nexus 8 control panel coupled to a Intellisense AG8 external sounder. Dont like the panel, Im a Menvier man myself through and through. Anyway I digress..... When the bell is tested from the panel, it goes off as it should but will not switch off. Only way is to open the housing whilst it deafens me and physicly disconnect the twin sounders (gnd leads to them). If I screw the housing cover screw back in to close the tamper without the housing on, go back down to the RKP and do another test it will work properly, ie go off when told to and stop when requested, (faintly hear sounders) Is it a sequence that im …

Hi all. I've just installed a Gardtec 350 panel and I want to do a part set routine to omit zones 1 & 3 (it's less emotionally crippling than killing the cat). I can manage omitting the zones manually but my missus is not very logical. The problem is the installation manual, I can't make head or tail of the part setting bit. Can anyone help please? Hi, I have had the RS40 for about 10 years, the control box is getting VERY hot. I suspect it may be the battery but I then I am only guessing. I am relectant to open the control panel this will activate the tamper. I have the engineer code for the alarm but I am not sure where to go from there. Can anyone give my some advise please? I'm in the process of buying a house and I want to install an alarm. I'm still looking what I need as I'm new to alarms. However, there is one question that I want to ask now. Can I use cat5 cable for the wriring? I'm kitting out the house with data and voice in all the rooms therefore I will be using alot of cat5. I just thought I could use this as I could buy in bulk and get it all cheaper. What are peoples thoughts. James

first question is about wireing the smoke alarms into the systems... do i just loop the interconnect from the smokes into the zone or is it best to get 12volt smokes by texecom or something ? fooking be much easier to wire lol aswell. ok now onto the other question this will be a bit tuffer lol i have come across another alarm (dont ask since i have been getting into this its crazyt hey are knocking at me door) this alarm is called a clarion or claryon (might not even be that lol) just had a look at the job i am at this morning but i have looked on the ent i wonder if any of you have heard about this alarm... its got the biggest motherbaord i have seen lol thanks…
