Hi there, I hope someone can help me. I have just moved into my girlfrieds house which already had an alarm installed. It was installed by the person who owned the house before my girlfriend. She has no instructions for it, and no access codes (there aren't even any marking to say who the manufacturer is). The system is currently switched off, so it has never been a problem for her before, however tonight the internal alarm starting going off. Since we have no codes all I could do was to disconnect the siren, however really I would like to reset the control panel so we can use the alarm (if the external alarm starts going off I dont think I will be able to disconnect th…

Our OPTIMA alarm sounds whenever I turn off electricity to whole house (at main relay-box) - presumably a safety design feature. But surely it's possible to stop it going off. Same whether or not alarm is on or off when power cut. Also, reverts to factory code when power restored. Is this faulty? Thanks from Stephen.

Hi Everyone Thanks to you all for your suggestions; alas I am a bit stuck once more! ....following my previous post about removing the suspect keypad from the system, I've now done that and the tamper was running as you need to open the keypad box of course to remove it. Anway, I've got the suspect keypad out now, and I was going to put one of the known working ones in it's place to test if it was the keypad afterall.... ...but the system is now I think in 'lock out' mode, with TA light showing on the other keypads, and the buttons don't beep when I press them....so if I did move a working pad to the suspect location, I wouldn't know how to get the system out of tampe…

Hello All! Just a quick query - I have recently had a Accenta G3 box installed by a friend who used to be in an alarm installer, with 3 accenta keypads (one of them is accenta plus keypad, the other 2 are 'normal' accenta keypad), and there's one panic button too. Anyway, I notice now that the one keypad is lit up (backlit) all the time, but the power and day lights seem to most of the time be off, and none of the keys work. The strange thing is, sometimes, the power and day buttons light up and then and the keypad is ok for a few seconds or so. It's almost as if the keypad has a loose connection - although we have checked the connections they are all secure. T…

Currently I have a Pyronixs Belle, (http://tinyurl.com/632vx), but I'm very disappointed with its performance. The strobe and leds are impossible to see during daylight. I'm been recommended a Gardiner NovaGard 1, does anyone have any experience on these? Any recommendation would be much appreciated. Thanks Rob

Hi all. Some time ago my A1 alarm panel (Omnicron 7000) started to puke, so I stopped using the alarm, as it was constantly faulting. Just one of those things really. I got a kick up the butt in the early hours of this morning when at 4am the bellbox began sounding off. The panel, still dead and not responding, I ended up disconnecting the black bell- wire from the panel, the sounder silenced. I'd already bought a Veritas 8 panel and 7ah battery, thought this was the perfect time to replace the panel, so had a go at it myself. The existing wiring was fairly straightforward, I've only got 4 zones (2 PIRs, 2 mag contacts) and they've been wired up and walk tested fine, …

Good day. I have fitted a veritas R8 control panel with a number of magnetic contacts, PIR's and inertia shock sensors. The system has been up and running for several days now and works fine apart from one annoying issue. The rear door inertia shock sensor (viper GL) which is connected to the control panel via six core wire, works perfectly when the alarm is set. However, when the alarm is in the unset mode, and given the magical ability of children to slam doors, the led is activated and stays activated. What is the best way to enable me to reset the sensor(get rid of the flashing led) without powering down the system? The installation instructions talk about what …

Hi all, I posted this a few days back but it appears to have been lost... Thanks to everyone who has given me advice over the past couple of weeks. I have now managed to install my new bell box and get my remote keypad and sensors etc working on my Menvier TS690R system (after performing a factory reset). The only thing I have left to get working is the remote door sensor. The sensor is hard-wired into the control panel, but doesn't seem to DO anything. Do you know if there is something I need to do to 'learn' the device to the control panel? I have tried playing with the wires going to it in an attempt to trigger a tamper, but that didn't seem to help... The Menv…

Hi all, Following your advice, I have fitted myself a new bellbox to my Menvier TS690R alarm system. However, I am having trouble getting my wired remote keypad to work. It is wired directly into the main control box. On the remote keypad, there are two LEDs. One is green and should stay on continuous if it has mains power, or flash on and off it it is running on battery power. At the moment it is staying off and doing nothing. There IS mains power going to the main control box. The other LED is red. That one is flashing on and off continuously. I can't download the installation manual from the menvier website as it requires me to be a registered installer. D…

I'm a girlie who needs some help!!! Don't know if anyone can help. I've an Optima XM alarm and recently I turned power off to fit a new light in Kitchen and when I turned power back on, the keypad to alarm has blown. I think I'd be ok fitting a new one if I knew where to get one from. Look forward to lots of help!!!

After finding this web site it gave me the confidence to install my own alarm system. I opted for a Texecom Premier 24 (mainly cos I could get a nice satin chrome keypad) which has proved pretty straightforward to configure except for one aspect. I have two zones covering a shed set as '24Hr Audible'. What is the easiest way of disabling these for accessing said shed? The manual mentions shunt codes, but not in enough detail. Any recommendations? I would prefer to have a separate 4 digit code that disables these two zones as opposed to using omit commands each time, does anyone know if this is possible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I have a Menvier Networker TS690R wireless security system. Last night (a windy, rainy night), the alarm box outside started to make a very loud clicking/crackling noise. The noise was similar to that made by a geiger-counter (for measuring radiation), but much much louder. The noise happened intermittently (on and off every 30 seconds or so) for a good hour before I managed to turn the thing off. Does anyone have any idea as to what could have caused the noise? A faulty speaker (or whatever makes the noise)? A faulty battery? Any clues greatly appreciated! Thanks! Kieran

Hi all, Following your excellent advice on the forum, I am going to replace my existing bell-box. The question is - are all bell-boxes going to be compatible with my current alarm system? It's already got the wire going from the control box indoors to the existing (broken) bell-box, so I am hoping to just use the same wire and just fit it to the new box (which I haven't bought yet). Or is it more complicated than that? Will all boxes be compatible? For the record, I currently have a Menvier Networker TS690R. Thank you once again for your advice, Kieran

Hi - first timer with a small problem. I have the Accenta 6 system in my home. Whilst decorating I removed one the PIR detectors from the wall. This activated the alarm's tamper system so I entered my 4 digit code to silence the system. Now the keypad had gone dead and is not responding. The POWER and TAMPER lights are still illuminated. The mains supply is ok and I have just removed the Mains fuse - when I re-inserted it the siren activated. I was able to cancel it using the keypad but now I'm back in the same position with the keypad not responding. Any ideas please? Graham
