Hi, I have just had the house wired for an alarm (all 8 core alarm cable) while getting a load of other wiring sorted. The panel supports DOEL tamper detection. I know this has something to do with fitting resistors somewhere Can someone explain how this works or point me in the direction of something on t'interweb that explains it Finally, I have 8 core wiring to all windows and external doors plus PIRs in every room... Should I be fitting vibration or contacts to the windows or both? I assume 8 cores is more than enough for 2 detectors both on one wire. Also, we have two cats and might be getting a medium-large sized dog. They will all roam the house unfortun…

I have recently serviced my burglar alarm (Menvier TS500) the control panel was working but the bell box was not making any sounds. I checked the voltage being sent to the bellbox from the control panel (13 volts at the control panel and 13 volts at the bell box) so there was definately current being sent to the bellbox. The problem seemed to be with the bell box. I disconnected this and removed it from the wall (control panel in engineeer mode) so that I could take a closer look at it. On further inspection it turned out to be a loose connection on the sounder which I resoldered. This fixed the problem (the back up battery in the bellbox was now able to sound it). I repl…

Hi There I took over an office in January that has a Scantronic 816 control panel. The outgoing tenant had long since cancelled his //.National Installer.// contract, and they just carried on setting the alarm, which all worked fine. They passed on the codes to me, and that's been fine until a couple of days ago, I tried to change the codes as we had staff leave. Now it stubbornly says "Call Engineer". The conversation with //.National Installer.// was most unhelpful. Is there (a) anyone out there who can reset this system, or better, (b) someone who can tell me how to do this. We are a very small company, and I don't want to pay for a contract just yet - it migh…

I installed an aritech CS 250 panel a while ago it was one of three alarms as I started out on my new side line. My main line of work picked up and dropped the idea of the alarm installs. (just for nackground) I was called back to this one which has two problems an RF sen sup loss and another RF fault up. I can't get back in using my install code the user codes don't work and neither do the default codes with the exception that one does bring me to a "enter command" option but can't access anything of us to me. The orange led is flashing. I'd really appricate any help on this from anyone who can assist me. Kev.

Hi, I have a couple of questions about my Galaxy 8 panel I'd like to ask but first I guess I'd better give a bit of background. I have a Galaxy 8 panel and Mk7 keypad that I currently have working on a test bed with 3 pirs (Optex DX40E dual tech) and two door contact switches. All remaining zones are linked with 1k resistors. I still need the following: A compatible bell box From reading this forum it seems that the Texecom Odyssey 1, 2 or 3 would be a good choice (engineers hold off I think is going to be essential whilst I'm messing about with it) , is it ok to work with the Galaxy 8? Could anyone suggest a wiring scheme? A battery for the Galaxy 8 Panel Again c…

hello...i was wondering if any bright spark might know how to resolve a problme I have. I have an sl compact and it works fine except Zone 3 keeps on going off. I have taken to omitting Zone three for the time being. Its a pain as now cable seems to be cut. The area is at the back of the house and the back door. Could the slamming of the back door have damaged the connection? Any help would be appreciated. How can I repair this fault? Any ideas...please

I've fitted a second remote keypad to a Lynteck Nexus 8 control panel, but need help. So far I have: 1. Disconnected mains 2. Disconnected battery 3. Connected Live and Neutral (NOT Data) of keypad to control panel 4. Reconnected battery and mains New keypad displays " n1 " (as Engineers Guide states it should), but I cannot set the new keypads address number. Engineers Guide says just press 1-4 and YES and a confirmation bleep will be heard, but when I do this I get no bleep and the keypad still shows " n1 ". Should I be connecting the data cable to the control panel 1st? or is there something else I need to do? I'd be grateful for your words of wisdom! banghe…

Hi, I'm new here and was hoping someone might be able to help. I've got a DVR that has a BNC video input and a camera (Micro Cam B&W with Audio) but it has a scart connector (male). I've searched the internet for a female to BNC connector but can't find one (I don't often look for these kind of things). Well I can - I found one with four BNC connectors but my DVR has only one input per camera and no extra audio inputs. Can anyone help me locate a suitable adapter? Will I stil get the Audio from the camera via a BNC plug into the DVR (it works OK via the Scart into the TV) Thanks Bob

Hi, A friend of mine has bought a house and it has a Veritas 8 alarm installed. He has no codes etc (typical) I fitted my own R8 system so, toddled off to have a look with my manuals. What I found was strange to me. I can set and unset his system with 4321, I can also access chimes by using this code. But when I tried to cange his code by pressing 4321 PROG, the panel just returns its error sound. I cannot access engineer mode, so it has obviously been changed. I have told him that he will probalby have to buy a new panel as you cannot reset to default, but thought I'd ask this question to the experts before he does. As the system works fine and is set up well. …
