is it possible to connect the interconnect cable of a smoke detector on to a texecom speech dialler. so when a smoke detector detects fire the interconnect cable can triger the input of the speech dialler, which can dial out. the smoke detectors cable is 9v when triggered (told by the manufactures). has anyone done this or can advice about this whether it is possible. many thanks in advance the smoke detectors are just normal type battery backup/mains powerd with three cables live, neutral and interconnect (linked to other s.detectors, when one detects all sound).

My first ever install, and I will be ripping it out tommorow as we're moving. I'll do a few things differently next time though. I did'nt leave enough slack in the cables, so even though there's a decent amount there, there's not as much as I'd like. There are also a couple of unmarked cables, which should be fun identifying. Also, I kept adding bits to it, so it does look a bit messy. The PSU needs a grommet on the mains input, but apart from that, I'm a bit proud of it! Apologies for the mess on the floor too

Just installed my DSC 832 and I have very strange electric problem. The panel is connected to its own 6A mcb in the non RCD section of the split load /one section with an isolator switch, other with an RCD/ consumer unit. As soon the mcb is switched on the RCD section trips out!!!! So far I have found the following: - works ok with the RCD section off - it trips with the 832 transformer connected /panel disconnected/ - it trips with the earth wire disconnected - tried different wire from the CU to the transformer

Hi, Being a stubborn member of the public and unable to get an engineers code for my old TS700 I am thinking about ripping the whole thing out and installing a new control panel as they do not seem that expensive. I currently have a panel in the cloakroom and a large box in the airing cupboard, where the battery and everything is. Could soemone recommend what control panel/box I should buy. I have 4 PIR's, 1 door switch, 1 garage switch and 3 panic buttons so it doesn't need to be too complex, just reliable. Any recommendations???

Hi, I would like to connect two //.National Installer.// bell boxes to my alarm system i think i've worked out what the connections are at the bell box +h = Supply 12v -h = Supply 0v rtn = tamper return -r = siren trigger eng = ? batt = internal battery st- = strobe trigger? and on the control panel T = tamper return A = supply 0v D = supply 12v B = sound trigger so from control panel to //.National Installer.// bell box T to rtn, A to -h, D to +h, B to -r. That seems to work but how can i add another //.National Installer.// bell box?

Hi all, I'm currently installing an Aritech CD72 panel at home. I have 2 x GS620 self contained shock sensors to integrate into the system. I'll have contacts on every door & window opening. House is double glazed throughout (fairly sturdy windows and doors). I'm thinking a shock sensor on the front and back doors. What do you experts reckon?

I currently have a Pyronix Paragon Super II panel with two remote keypads which I fitted about 8 years ago. This has worked fine, but I am now considering upgrading due to needing some extra zones. I have 6 at present, and would need at least 8 - although this would still leave a number of zones with 2/3 detectors in them. At some time I will probably want to add a phone dialer, and maybe a smoke detector. I have been considering a Pyronix Stirling 10, as this seems the closest upgrade. My other option is to go for something more exotic (to me) such as the Pyronix Matrix 832+ or the Texecom Premier 24, both of which can take zone expanders. Is it better to pay the e…

Hello, I have a Veritas (probably an R8) alarm, with a Remote Key Pad. I went out (didn't set the alarm) and came home to find there had been a power cut (various clocks around the house were flashing 00:00). The alarm seems to have been upset by this: the external strobe is flashing, and the remote key pad has all its lights lit (8 red zone lights - 1 red tamper light - and 1 green unset light). The system is not responding to any key presses at all - no beeps and no change in the lights. I have tried turning the power off/on again, but the battery just seems to keep the system in the same state. Any idea of how to get my system out of this state? Any help much appreci…

Hi, I have a installed system based on the Texacom veritas 8r and texacom oddysey1 bell box. The other day the bell box began sounding even though the alarm was unset and I was in the house. No amount of resetting would stop the box and it eventually stopped on its own( I thought it may have run out of battery) but it is connected to draw its power from the main unit I have run through the self tests of the alarm and all is well with the setting and walk through tests. The internal sounder is working. The sounder unit no longer shows the alternating leds and does not respond to a a test signal. I have checked the voltage at the Bell box connectors and It is getting…
