Hi, I've moved house and there is a DIY-type alarm system installed. It has "Security master" written on it. I've got no idea about the access code. Is this irretrievable? What's the best way out of this mess? It runs from a mains transformer, has a door contact sensor, two PIR sensors and a box outside. There are three DIP switches on the side of the unit and two screws on the underside, presumably to fix it to the mounting bracket. Thanks in advance, Jon Telfer

hello i am mickie i am putting an alarm system in for my uncle and we would like the best wired system on the market i am a electrician but also hold a computer networking MCP and also own a busy cable and satellite forum.... and have been re-wireing houses for over 3 years and installing networks for maybe 5 years and have my own business (nothing to do with electrics or cable lol). I take pride in all work i carry out and believe the right way is the best way, i think back in the past i may have installed 4 alarm systems i remember the last one was a accenta and i was not to impressed with the PIRS (motion detectors) and mounting them (this was maybe 1 year ago and i…

What needs to be done during a house build to allow for the installation of a fully functioning alarm at a later time? Wires have to be run to all windows/doors? If so, how does it all work? ie. what type of wire, how much does it cost, etc. Basically, i am not concerned about having an alarm for the first few months - but want to do whats necessary during the building of the house to allow for installation later.

Hi, Our alarm has been displaying "Low battery" for a week so I figure the battery needs replacing. Can I do this myself or should I get the alarm company to do it (they haven't been very helpful in the past and seem to charge a fortune for even coming out!)? Do I have to be able to put the system in engineer mode in order to change the battery? If feasible, where can I get the battery? , BOF

  10. CLICK HERE! So I've been busy for a few days upgrading our old Texecom V8 to a Galaxy 16+, mainly cos the Veritas is huge, and our hallway is small enough already, and the guy that put it in plastered everything into the wall, making upgrades a nightmare. After looking over the system, there were alot of things done to cut corners. 13 amp fuse in the FCU, which was under the floorboards, kitchen and dining room wired to one zone, tamper wires twisted together, messy control panel wiring etc. I decided to put the panel in the loft. It's not dusty as it's been boarded out, and it was the best way to do it for routing the cables. Spur was taken from the socket ring and the…

Hi, Hopefully someone can help with some wiring advice. I have an existing AJ600 alarm system with an A1 Omnicron 7000 control panel. I have bought a Vortex bell box but not sure of the wiring. The Vortex has the following: +HOLD,-HOLD, TG-, STB-, and RETURN. My control panel has 6 contacts for the bell: Bell +, Bell - , Strobe +, Strobe -, and SCB marked "0" and "RT" I am unsure which cable goes where! Any help would be appreciated I am thinking that Return will connect to RT and STB- will connect Strobe - and +HOLD will connect Bell+ but the other 2 connections I'm not sure Thanks Allan

I have just received my Powermax+ panel today and set about configuring it. Unfortuately i fell at the (almost) first hurdle with the Installer Security Codes. Neither of the default numbers 8888 or 9999 work, with the keypad getting locked after the 5th incorrect attempt for a small time. Has anyone come across this at all ? Thanks in advance. Jason.

My wife blew up the kettle last week and the ring fuse tripped out. When it was put back the alarm system has gone faulty. The strobe would not turn off and the keypad is DEAD - apart from the green LED backlights to the keypad buttons! However the RED power light is not showing nor are the other red lights (day, tamper attack zones etc) AND the keypad wont operate. The main alarm box shows that there is a healthy mains supply and the wiring to the box and keypad appear ok. I have checked the internal fuses in the main box (all okay) and tried a new back up battery but still I cant get the mains light to show on the keypad or get the panel to work. What I cant underst…

Hi all, I did a Factory Reset on my Menvier TS690R panel, and now I can't program my alarm set-up back how it was. Please please give some advice if you can help... - Reading the installation manual, it seems to imply that each remote device in the system be assigned to a separate 'circuit'. However, it doesn't say how to do this. I have taught the system about all of my wireless sensors, but it seems to have assigned them all to the same circuit (circuit 01). Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? - I have a sensor in the hallway, which will be activated upon entry to the house. This is (as described above) part of circuit 01. Circuit 01 is set up to be a…
