  1. I have upgraded an old Texecom system to an Elite 24 to allow individual zones. I have inserted the 4.7k and 2.2k resisters into the PIR's connected everything up including an 8 channel expander connected the battery and loaded the factory defaults and got a host of Tamper and Alarm errors. To diagnose the faults I have disconnected the Extender and looped out zones 2 to 8 on the control panel and left zone 1 with a door contacts. When I power up and load the factory defaults again I get tamper on zone 001 and tempers on 2 to 8 and alarm faults on 1 to 8. Looping out the unused zones I have used pieces of alarm wire so expected only to see Zone 1 either working or with…

  2. Is it possible for a zone type to be "entry/exit" on full set and "alarm" on part set A or B?

  3. Hi, I would like to know how you guys do the maintenance of your Radio devices. I have a GalaxyFlex 020 connected to Honeywell D08M (wireless door detector) and Honeywell SHK8H (wireless shock detector on some windows) - According to Honeywell commercial documentation the battery (Lithium 3V CR123A) can last nearly 5 years - Normally we are supposed to get a notification on the keyboard when the voltage falls between 2.5V and 2.7V Based on this, what are your best practices ? - if you were me, how often would you change the batteries ? - which brand would you use ? In addition, do you k…

  4. I'm trying to change our user code because the remote keypad has a bad membrane so I was going to change it to a pin that didn't use that button! We don't know our engineer's code so I tried to do a reset of the engineer's code using a strap ##REMOVED## So I started the system up again with the strap and left it maybe a minute - no alarm started to sound as it apparently should do, but I'm not sure our external sounder works. I figure the strap was actually working because the alarm didn't sound when I connected power as it does normally when the tamper switch is unpressed (lid open). Anyway so after waiting a minute I disconn…

Recently my Sounders have stopped working. If I put the system into alarm, I get 0V at the sounder and when I measure across the terminals at the panel. If I remove the wires from the sounder terminals at the panel it measures 12V. Don’t understand what’s going on? Any ideas?

  6. Hello all, I am hoping for some general advice about choosing a decent intruder alarm in a 2 storey house that I am in the process of building. I have a basic understanding of electrics and I have done some research and I am planning to use mainly wired connections but will require at least a few wireless ones as well. Most of the research I have done so far has been on Texecom systems, mainly because that is what is fitted to my current house but I am also considering systems from Honeywell and Pyronex. If I go OTT, which is the norm for me, I will probably have dual / quad motion sensors in most if not all rooms, an internal garage and an outd…

Hi people, I’m wondering if you can answer some questions for me. I’ve fitted an I-on 40 hybrid system on my house and initially fitted an internal sounder to LS +/-. Problem is the entry and exit tones are deafening so I want it to just make a racket on full alarm. Should I connect it in parallel with the external bell or shout I use one of the numbered outputs? If so how do I go about this? Bell & -trigger on the bell box outputs (1bell box used) op1 and Nc on the Outputs but not sure how these are programmed out the box? thanks in advance, Chris

  8. Hi all, hopefully someone can sensecheck this. Due to my old bellbox being very old and the strobe failed, I'm trying to install a new Texecom X-BE bellbox to an Accenta G3 Panel. The original box had the following wiring; PANEL. OLD BELLBOX SCB-A. TAMPER SCB-T. TAMPER NEG. STROBE + STROBE B. SIREN D. SIREN I have wired to the new bellbox as follows; PANEL. NEW BELLBOX X-BE SCB-A. A (12V) SCB-T. (Unused as the bellbox is a neg strobe) NEG. S (Strobe) +. C (Tamp) B. BELL …

Hi, I have a Flex20 and just got my hands on a slightly second hand CP045 Touchcenter. Trouble is, It defaults to French and when powering up, it should take me to the addressing page so I can get it to talk properly with the Flex. Unfortunately, it doesn't come up with that - just straight to the home page. Anyone any ideas how to factory reset it so I can set the address (and language)? TIA

  11. Started by ryback,

Hi folks. I acquired a second hand Visonic kit (panel + sensors) from a guy who used to have an ADT subscription. He terminated his contract with ADT and they left him the alarm. I purchased it assuming it would be simple to "reset" the panel and fit it to my needs. I sadly found it isn't. Although I can do a reset (green light = success?), I cannot log into the panel, either via USB port or AlarmInstall app. As far as I was told later, ADT visonic panels are locked and can only be accessed by ADT remotely. Understanding the forum policies of not publishing defaulting info in public forums, I would just to know if it possible (not how) to default (reset) …

  12. I have got the Texecom Premier 48 with a Battery Fault. This has happened since we had a short power-cut one evening. I have logged into engineer mode and looked at the status of the battery. The battery has 13.6v and is fully charged. I have done a walk test to make sure all the PIR’s and Door Contacts work. What I have displaying on the LCD Keypad is ‘System Alerts!’ and ‘Battery Fault’, how can I stop these messages from appearing?

  13. Moved into this house in 2020. It has an old (probably as old as the house, 20 years) alarm. There is a bell box (unknown brand) And a veritas 8c texecon panel. I can't find any other box. Apparently there may not be one? So I never use this alarm. But it randomly goes off. The panel buzzes and the bell box rings. It has done this at completely random times. Not power cuts. I'm concerned it's going to do it while I'm on holiday and drive the neighbours crazy How do I disconnect the alarm? I've heard everything from smash the box to hire someone to get a ladder, open the box and cut the wires. …

  14. Started by iain maoileoin,

I have a inherited a security installation. The main board is U/S. I was planning to dismember the system and replace the controller with say a Honeywell Galaxy system. There is already a board like that elsewhere in the building. I would like to find out a little bit about the unit and the wiring before I take it out. It appears to be an ancient Thorn security system. Photo attached. Some sensors are new, some are ancient. The board appears to use 6 wires per device/circuit, with 2 for power and ground, so I guess 2 for detector (CCTx) and 2 for the anti-tamper (A/Tx). I have not yet taken a sensor to bits, so I have no idea what is in it…

  15. This has been a partially disconnected system in my property for the whole 7 years we’ve been here. We were burgled 2 weeks ago for my car keys (and car) and I’m looking to possibly reuse the existing wiring from this old system, which looks all ok. I’m ok wiring the mains to the panel / transformer and the battery, but am unsure where to wire the bell box and PIR sensors. I can’t find a manual as the make is unknown. Below is a picture if anybody can identify? Thanks Panel Board
